__________

Only after Harry returned to the Dursleys did he think about Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom. After it happened, he was too filled with rage at Snape to even consider Malfoy, then he was with Ginny, then Dumbledore had been killed.

Shut in his room at Privet Drive, now he’s finally able to think. Now he understands why Malfoy had been crying; he might’ve asked himself that question in the bathroom had Malfoy given him time, which he hadn’t.

Harry thinks about their duel and is sickened to realize that he was the one who performed Dark Magic, against a Death Eater.

Author's Notes: This drabble takes place during OotP chapter 21, The Eye of the Snake. It's when the Trio is walking up from Hagrid's inspected lesson on thestrals in the Forbidden Forest, and Malfoy cuts into their conversation. The quotes in the drabble are on page 450, the U.S edition.

This whole scene is something I've always wanted to elaborate on in fanfic, and I think that a good deal of the intensity is gone here, but I did cut it down from almost 200 words, so bear with me. Oh, and the emotion Draco feels is up to you; I had sympathy in my mind, but it's open to interpretation...

__________

Walking back to the castle after an enjoyable Care of Magical Creatures lesson, I listen into Potter’s conversation with Granger and Weasley.

“…they are very interesting, aren’t they? The way some people can see them and some can’t! I wish I could.”

“Do you?” Potter asks, and his voice chills me. Granger’s sensed it too because she makes an apology that Potter stops, sounding ashamed.

But I saw the way Potter’s eyes flashed and his body tensed; and I feel something for my enemy that I know I’m not allowed to feel.

Shaken, I cut into their conversation.

“Yeah, Weasley…”
