The first time it’s drunk.
The first time it’s fumbling (awkward); too many “we shouldn’t” said - eyes never meeting out of fear of seeing something more than drunkenness.
The second time it’s angry.
The second time it’s harsh (with an irate air to it); too many people dead - words never relieving the massive, built up tension because they didn’t acknowledge what happened.
The third time it’s a promise.
The third time it’s slow (gentle); too little time before dawn will break - too much time spent being afraid. Their hands promise what their words can’t. They kiss for the first time.
