Snape stopped wielding any real authority over him months ago.
When Narcissa dies and there is no one left for the Dark Lord to hold hostage, even he does not consider Draco important enough to waste more than a grimace over.
It is a matter of pride for Draco that he does not cave, till silence and the winter moon make a tomb of Malfoy Manor.
Potter finds him outside the Forbidden Forest. He digs Draco out from beneath deep snowdrifts, but all Draco feels is Harry’s voice in his ear.
“I’ve been looking for you since June, you prat.”
