This is Jill B. (to distinguish her from Jill C.)
(Picture stolen without her permission from her Livejournal. Jill, I like the glasses by the way.)
Normally I don't write about people, so Jill, and then Laurel, Mike, and Evan from a previous entry should feel special. I'm also not writing these to earn "fake non-exsistent points" with these people. I just genuinely care. That's right. Me, Enoch Kwok has a heart, contrary to all my sarcastic remarks and general political incorrectness that could give David Brent (UK) or Michael Scott (US) a run for their money. I'm also doing this because I'm procrastinating, hard, in anticipation of my communications midterm.
Jill went to Lisgar for only four months back in our Grade 9 year. We talked back then. Not as "best friends" but a bit more than just aaquaintences. Just as soon as the year has started, Jill had to move to Australia. We remained friends through the magical wonders of MSN and continued talking, although infrequently due to the time differences, and different schedules, etc... The important part is that we continued talking. For four years, over many time zones, and on two different continents. Which led to today, seeing each other in person for the first time in a very long time, even though we talked a bit more since she came back. Jill's special. There aren't too many people that can live in another continent for four years, come back, and still be friends. Come to think of it, there aren't too many people that can still be "acquainted" after four years. To quote George Sr. from Arrested Development: "I can’t let what we have, as lousy as it may be at times, be destroyed."
If you haven't seen or heard about The Office (UK or US versions, I don't really have a favourite like most people, they're both really good) or Extras, go download or buy them on DVD or start watching them NOW. The UK version of The Office has been off the air for a while now but lives on in DVDs and the US version with Steve Carell. Extras is a show on BBC staring Ricky Gervias (who was the boss on the UK version of The Office) and is currently in its' second season. Extras also features celebrity guest stars such as Ben Stiller and Kate Winslet as exaggerated forms of themselves.
I like comedies. Especially smart ones (I'm glaring in your direction Two And A Half Men) like the three mentioned above and Arrested Development. These shows require you to think, something television doesn't ask of you very much. So, if you'd rather be thinking instead of doing work and thinking "like everyone else does," shows like these are your answer (unlike shows such as According To Jim; how it went for six seasons when Arrested was on for two and a half, and The UK Office for two, I'll never know).
And for anyone that cares, the setlist for "Pointless Nostalgic" (comprising of Megan, Alastair, Josh, and myself) at Friday, October 13th's Lisgar Coffeehouse was:
These Are The Days !
Wind Cries Mary $ ->
(Golddigger) # ->
(Crazy) %
Toxic ^
! Jamie Cullum
$ Jimi Hendrix via. Jamie Cullum
# Kanye West
% Gnarls Barkley
^ Britney Spears
This wasn't an outstanding blog. Here are the instant highlights: Jill, good. The Office, The Office, Extras, good. Coffeehouse, good. Britney Spears, caused career suicide by marrying K-Fed. K-Fed, bad.
