Little Victories

LCI Leadership Camp was the last two days or so. It was eventful to say the least. Rachel and I played one of our most beautiful "gigs" ever, crossed legged side by side, no mics, a bunch of friends swaying to the music, on the edge of the campfire, on a beautiful night. I wish someone got a photo of it, though I'm doubtful as they were all rockin' out to the tunes. Very impromptu as we were figuring out what songs we could do while on stage. Little did we know that later that night, many unfortunate events would occur that would change the mood of Leadership Camp. All I'll say is that it was "the best prank fate could play." The "set" however before hand at the campfire consisted of:

1) Little Victories
(When I'm Through With Me - noodling, because I couldn't remember the song)
2) Sideways

The lyrics of the first song really hit me about this morning/afternoon when the events of last night became clear and I've decided to post them, a "enoch's road journal" first (posting full song lyrics).

little victories - matt nathanson

this time i'll be sailing
no more bailing boats for me
i'll be out here on the sea
just my confidence and me

and i'll be awful sometimes
weakened to my knees
but i'll learn to get by
on the little victories

this time i'll have no fear
i'll be standing strong and tall
turn my back towards them all

and i'll be awful sometimes
weakened to my knees
but i'll learn to get by
on the little victories
and if the world decides to catch up with me
still little victories
