Cross Country Week #4

Sep 25, 2006 22:01

Monday Sept25- AM: Ran 1.33xNature Trail with Danny, finishing the last .375 miles with MJ, JJ, and The Burmeister. 3 miles.

PM: Ran a Hill Loop mainly solo. Was a pretty annoying hill loop. At the first ford, a truck (a Ford) accelerated thru the ford, getting me (a ford) soaking wet. My shoes were soaked, which sucked. Also, after the ford, no one regrouped, and we were all strung out, so there wasnt really a group to run with. In addition, I just really didn't very good at all on the hills (righter's mill was in 3:35). Tried to run a "strong" effort, ended up in 66:06, which didn't feel as good as last week, although I did jog the last mile because Farina's foot was hurtin, which added a lot of time. Spent time inbetween Mush, Danny, Farina, and Marsden. I still got a good workout tho, I guess I feel like I didn't because everyone flew today, really flew. 9.5 miles.

Tuesday Sept26- AM: Ran 1.33xNature Trail with Danny. 3 miles.

PM: Ran Blue Route Trails with Patrick, Marsden, The Burmeister, and Reilly. A pretty cool run, never have done before. Went by quickly, and the creek wasn't too high. 9 miles.

Wednesday Sept27- AM: Ran 1.33xNature Trail with Danny and GPo. 3 miles.

PM: Warmed up on a Lady and did 6x200 on alumni with Phil, Poindexter, Marsden, Gpo, and Joaks in 36/37. Same "warmup" kind of workout. And again, it felt really fast, just hard to move legs that fast. I've always taken a while to come around with that. 7 miles.

Thursday Sept28- AM: Ran 1.33xNature Tail with Danny. Caught up to MJ, JJ, and The Burmeister by the duck pond and finished with them. 3 miles.

PM: Ran 2xNature Trail with Burgmann. Ran really slowly, felt good. 5 miles.

Friday Sept29- AM: Ran Shortened Nature Trail with Danny. Cut in by duck pond. 2 miles.

PM: Ran 28:15 at Paul Short Invitational. I think this was a pretty lackluster, or mediocre, race for me. Was planning on trying to run with Poindexter again. We got a little separated, and I was just planning on catching up to him later in the race, rather than expend tons of energy weaving through what was a very crowded field. There were some opportunities in the first mile to accelerate, however, I never felt relaxed during the race, and I felt if I were to accelerate, I would be redlining too much. Came though the mile in 5:38, which was 8 seconds slower than last week, and I felt worse doing it. Anyway, second mile I continued to try to work up (often running on the side of the field), and came through in 11:18. At this point, I was really trying to run much faster than I was, and I came through in 17:00, which was faster considering that the 3rd mile is hillier. However, through all of this, I felt like I was constantly having to go to the outsides, and kept on getting caught on turns, as pretty much everyone in the field was slowing down greatly. I guess running even paced is better in smaller fields. After the third mile, I really tried to throw down, and was able to do so, pretty well. I dont know what I came through the fourth mile in, but it was down hill, and I think it may of been my fastest. However, once I hit the uphill in the last mile, my form really started to disintegrate and I started getting passed by a lot of people. However, I pulled myself and my form together pretty well, and started repassing a lot of people. At this point, I saw Trouble, and started working very hard to try to catch him. Coming into the final straight, I continued to press, and I had a good kick. Passed Trouble without realizing it, and came through the line in 28:15.

Some positives with this race is that although at no time I felt that spark of energy, or rush of oxygen, I did not falter horribly in the race. I went out in 5:38 not feeling good, and I was glad that I was able to be strong enough to maintain almost that pace (5:42). However, I wish I could have finished with GPo and Poindexter (27:40s). I guess, this was a good learning experience in the fact that it can be inefficient in ways to run even paced in such crowded meets. Again, this was not a “bad” race per se, but I believe that it was just downright mediocre. 9.25 miles.

Saturday Sept30- AM: Ran Rolling Hills Park->Jumbo->Nature Trail with The Burmeister, Reilly, Ben, and Andrew. This time came back via Grays Lane which I like a little better. I really like this run a lot, and will continue to do it often. Felt good on the hills, and the trails were nice. Pushed it to maintain a little bit of the pace on the Yellow Trail hill and on Grays Lane. Felt good. 15.75 miles.

Sunday Oct1- AM: Ran 5-co with Don, JJ, and MJ. Left from comfort, took it very easy, which was very necessary. Race->Long Run has left me very tired. 5.75 miles.

PM: Trotted 2xPolo Fields with The Burmeister. Standard shakeout. 2.75 miles.

78 miles. (61.25 on 7)
