Summary: It can light a fire, but maybe not one you meant to start. Established Poe/Connix.

[Note for the Mods, fairly spoilery for both fic AND The Last Jedi]Usually I don't give explanations for how I filled the prompts, but I went with some kind of unique interpretations here, so I feel I should clarify:

Wild card (survivor’s guilt) and Self-Harm are fairly obvious, I think.

Estrangement: In this particular story the estrangement I was going with was “the fact of no longer being on friendly terms or part of a social group.” It refers to the sections where I detail Connix’s upset at Holdo bringing her own people onto the bridge and freezing out Leia’s original crew.

Mistaken Identity: Here’s where I was kind of liberal with my interpretation. The definition from Merriam-Webster is “a situation in which someone or something is mistakenly thought to be someone or something else”. So that got me thinking- what about a person who is mistaken for being something- in this case, Holdo is viewed to be a particular kind of leader, when she is in fact another kind. Tl;dr I went with ‘a someone is mistaken for being something they’re not’. And I deliberately presented two views of Holdo here, Poe’s and Connix’s; it’s up to the audience which one is the mistaken interpretation and which one is the real one.

That may be a stretch but I wanted to do something a little less straightforward than the direct interpretation of the prompt.

prompt: mistaken identity, prompt: self-harm, round: 8, [medium: fic], amnesty: challenges: february, fandom: star wars, prompt: survivors guilt, prompt: estrangement
