3 prompts down, and that nasty place called 'work' interferes with my writing time. I'm going to see if my muse will work for a bit here...

I took a second job, it's not so bad... I'm just glad that we don't have payroll deduct as an option for paying for merchandise... or I'd never have a paycheck from Michael's.

and for some reason, 'forced soul-bonding' and 'forced marriage' on my card sound similar. Ah well, I think I can figure it out.

Ugh, work and real life are just so annoyingly distracting when you're trying to get on with far more fun fandom things! I feel your pain.

It doesn't help that my internal clock is STILL out of sync from my vacation, but instead of getting a second wind at 8 pm, my normal time to fly through fic, all I am is exhausted.

Still ten away from my blackout. But this month's a tight squeeze; my friend's birthdayfic has to be done by the twenty-first, and then there's my spook_me story. October's gonna be a crunch. Glad I thrive under pressure.

Only ten away from a blackout? Congrats, you're doing well! I don't think I've managed ten in total yet!

Thanks! Boy, it has not been easy, either. Luckily, I love a challenge and deadlines. :D

Finished & posted another fic, yay, and it's garnering some of the nicest comments to date that I've ever received. Much happy face.

Now if I could only come up with something for 'natural disasters', I'd get me a straight-line bingo. Hopefully sometime in the next few weeks, dear muse? I'm planning on doing Yuletide so it'd be nice to clear the decks by then. =)

Yey for another fic! Ooh, natural disasters? Volcanoes, earthquakes, tornadoes, tsunami, landslides, severe weather, climate change, asteroid impact, flood, wildfire \o/ Do any of those fit any fandoms you're into? (and can you tell I'm a fan of disaster films? ;-))

Heh! Oh man, I wish I could write an asteroid impact fic! (... that sounds weird, but I'm a bit of a space nerd so ...) But I can't think of any fandoms where it could fit. yet. YET! I will have to pursue this thought further ...

(any recs for good disaster films? I feel the urge to watch one!)

You may regret asking me that, lol! I'm a huge nerdy fan of the really old seventies disaster films, when the genre was really big for a while. So the classics from that period are The Poseidon Adventure (sinking ship - upsidedown! and don't even bother with the remake with Kurt Russel, the original is a million times better) and The Towering Inferno (does what it says on the tin - bigass burning building!).

Or for some more modern ones, with way better special effects but generally less developed plot or characterisation, we have Volcano, Dante's Peak, Deep Impact (that one is an asteroid impact film, with more emphasis on characters than on big world saving action heroics, and waaaay better than that the other asteroid impact film with Bruce Wills), and one of my personal favourites is The Day After Tomorrow for climate change induced ice age.

Hope there's something in that lot that you like! :-)

I currently have a complete meta and a complete fic, they just need editing, so that's what I'm planning to do today. If I haven't got *at least* one of them posted by the end of the weekend I will be quite disappointed.

It's October and I've hardly filled any squares on my card and I'm starting to worry. Also, I'm beginning to realise that I'm not enjoying h/c bingo as much this year as I did last year, and I don't know why. :-( Very few of the prompts on my card are leaping out at me and demanding to be written, but on the other hand there are none on my card that I absolutely cannot do either, so I really don't get what's wrong. I think I'm putting too much pressure on myself to get bingos and achievements, rather than just filling whatever prompts I fancy. I think I just need to relax and stop being so competitive, and remember it's supposed to be fun!

Sometimes it's hard to forget that this is all supposed to be fun. I never get competitive until it's something that I know I'm really good at.

Good luck with your editing!

The fic is posted!!! \o/ *does little happy dance*

Yeah, I'm quite happy about that...

I have to admit I am ridiculously competitive with these things, and I have friends who are also competitive, so we are simultaneously encouraging each other and being bad influences on each other. Last year I was really on a mission to get as many achievements as possible (and to be fair I did win King of the Mountain for the last round because of it), so I think I was trying to do the same again this year.

I just took a look at my card and decided to forgo the Blackout this year. I've already done an all-in-one fic, so really, that's sort of like doing a blackout.

Congrats on posting fic!

Also, I have a small question that I've been working up the nerve to ask. As a newbie to this community, I don't want to sound like an idiot and ask a question to which an answer's already been provided.

Why does the Single Media achievement (or whatever it's called--see what I mean about not wanting to seem stupid? *blushes*) not apply to fic? Personally, I can't do any other medium. When I make icons, all I do is crop; nothing fancy. I'm not artistically inclined. Meta just sounds like having to do essays when I was a schoolgirl, which I very rarely enjoyed. Et cetera. All I can do well is write.

Hi!

The answer is basically that most of the bingos posted to the comm are already all-fic, and we made the Achievements to draw attention to rarer kinds of posts! We appreciate variety :D But it's in no way implied, nor do we believe, that there's any way of participating in hc_bingo that is better than other ways. For example, we don't think everyone needs to write crossovers, it's just that we wanted to add an extra (and optional) challenge for people who do enjoy writing crossovers.

I hope that makes sense. All questions are welcome, great and small!

(Also general note: we do not always notice questions in time if you leave them on the Motivation Post - commenting on the FAQ post, or sending us a personal message or email, is a safer bet.)

Ah, okay. That makes perfect sense, then. :) Thanks! I didn't think it meant that anything was perceived as being better; just curious.
