My friend has a theory on Snape that I feel is quite illuminating. Some other people feel the same way, but I've got this link right here. It's the only way that it would really make sense to me; otherwise, Rowling's just undone too many of her themes and too much of her characterization.

I agree with your friend. This has been talked about a little bit and it's seems the most natural explanation. She goes even further with the love bond though, it's very interesting. Might be a reason my Dumbledore wanted to buried at Hogwarts. Would it mean Hogwarts would be a safe haven for Harry like the Dursley's once was? Interesting stuff. I loved this book.

and that is a marvelous explanation and seems more likely than Snape just killing him... lovely lovely...
I was thinking (before I read this part) that was the explanation of Snape not wanting to be called a coward.
