Levicorpus! This spellbook had to belong to either one of the Marauders or Lily, it HAD to. That's the spell they used on Snape! Of course maybe Snape is keeping track of whatever spells they used on him, but I prefer to think it's the other way 'round. But if Harry suspects it's his dad, then that must be out--it's too obvious. Lily, then? Please, not Snape...

Ginny's being a little standoffish, isn't she? She must be up to something...

OMG, GO HARRY! Whee, I think I am far too excited about Harry's tendency towards violence and backtalk, but it's just so him.

Something is UP with Malfoy, OMG, I need to finish this book asap!

Hmm. He's dismissed his father, because he's pureblood. Sirius, well, he's a Black.

PETER? Naah, he wouldn't call himself a prince, and he was always "not quite in the league" of the other Marauders. I'm guessing Remus, who JKR has told us before is half-blood, if not Snape.

Definitely Remus has a bigger chance to be the HBP than Snape. The latter would be just too obvious. Although, come to think of it, Remus doesn't fit in very well... But there's definitely something up concerning Remus - he's been one of the important crowd before and now he's suspiciously absent.

Overall, I'm sure that JKR will use the half-blood prince to stick her tongue on us all and make him someone we either dismissed at once/thought too obvious/didn't think of at all. The whole book so far points to it.

I can't imagine Remus referring to himself as a prince, any more than I could see Peter doing it, and the modifications made to the potions seem to be beyond the level of someone who couldn't brew the Wolfsbane Potion for himself. On the other hand, would Snape refer to himself as a half-blood?

Of course, "prince" might be some sort of joking nickname (e.g. James or Sirius had a tendency to call Remus a prince among men, or a prince among werewolves, or summat). Conversely, if Snape's titling himself a half-blood, that might be definitive proof that he isn't racist, or maybe that he's emulating Voldemort and viewing himself as a sort of successor to the throne.

Wouldn't Snape have kept his Advanced Potions book once he'd finished school, since he loved the subject so much and it contained that much useful information? Maybe he managed to learn all his annotations by heart by the time he'd no longer need the book. Or maybe his family's economic status wasn't very buoyant and he had to resort to use books from the school's fund.

I can totally see Sirius and James giving Remus that joking nickname, it's a good possibility.

If it's Remus, then why has Rowling told us that "HP and the H-BP" was the working title for CoS for ages? This is the thing that is stymieing me. Since Remus wasn't introduced until PoA. Not, mind you, that I'd mind. I'd love it to turn out to be Remus.
