Last week, when we were at Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument in Montana, a man driving a car with Saskatchewan plates pulled up by our car with the Alberta plates, got out to look at the hill we were looking at and asked, "Fellow Canadians, eh?" We could have hugged him right there just for using "eh?" because we had found out that after a whole weekend of not being with any Canadians, we sorely missed that little two-letter word. We had to admit that although our car looks like it belongs to Canadians, we were just temporary Albertans who had moved out of Canada a few days before. He seemed a bit disappointed.
I figure our neighbors in the new neighborhood in Illinois will probably also assume we are Canadians because of our car. Maybe the appearance of being a little bit exotic will mean I get more visitors early on who are curious.
