Saturday: at Brendan's in the afternoon to do IVD stuff (we have one more reasonably finished track, and also an inventory of what tracks Brendan has by us; the album we're doing with him is now somewhat more definite in form and less nebulous than it has been up to this point), then off to Ascension, which was fun (started kind of quietly, but picked up quite well), although I definitely overdid the booze and paid for it with a hideously broken sleep and some fairly unpleasant dreams as well... sigh. Still, it was good while it lasted. I did get photos but my Internet has been so shockingly bad today that trying to upload them when I'm suffering this many connection dropouts (I had yet another one in the middle of typing this up, in fact) would likely be a fool's errand. Some of them are quite amusing, though depending on how busy I am in the next couple of days you may need to wait a little while for them.
Friday night DJing... hmmmmmmmm. Let me just post what I played cos if I go into my fuller thoughts about last Friday, I will be here all night, and the playlist is more fun anyway:
Set 1:
The Sex Pistols, “Holidays in the Sun”
The Clash, “1977”
The Stranglers, “Straighten Out”
The Damned, “Love Song”
Stiff Little Fingers, “Suspect Device”
Subway Sect, “Nobody’s Scared”
The Ruts, “Babylon’s Burning”
Slaughter and the Dogs, “Cranked Up Really High”
The Ramones, “Blitzkrieg Bop”
The Skids, “Into the Valley”
The Weirdos, “We Got the Neutron Bomb”
Set 2:
The Clash, “White Man in Hammersmith Palais”
23 Skidoo, “Last Words”
Wire, “Ex Lion Tamer”
Public Image Limited, “Public Image”
Joy Division, “Transmission”
Black Flag, “Nervous Breakdown”
The Circle Jerks, “World Up My Ass” *
The Electric Eeels, “Agitated” *
The Buzzcocks, “Autonomy”
Devo, “Gut Feeling”
* Didn't actually intend to play these; the first was a miscue and the second was a result of me getting distracted by some clown punter. Not that anyone would've realised these weren't the tracks I was going to play, but it's the sort of thing that irritates me.
For anyone who may still care, this is what I played on the preceding Friday:
Set 1:
The Hooterville Trolley, “No Silver Bird”
Thunder and Roses, “White Lace and Strange”
Ladytron, “International Dateline”
Slowdive, “Morningrise”
Supergrass, “Richard III”
The Jesus & Mary Chain, “Reverence”
Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, “Green Cell Grey”
Pulp, “Do You Remember the First Time”
Set 2:
Covenant, “Bullet”
Joy Division, “Transmission”
Manic Street Preachers, “Motorcycle Emptiness”
Chapterhouse, “Breather”
Electric Wizard, “Dunwich”
The Horrors, “New Ice Age”
