IVD progress report - uuuuuhhhhh

God, that was hell and a half at Brendan's tonight, particularly towards the end of the night. We got all the work done on the backing tracks for the gig, and not everything about the session was difficult, but the harder bits (particularly "I Love Your Work" at the end of proceedings) were nightmarish. I'm exhausted. We were so late in getting to the Townie at the end of proceedings that if I hadn't already told fleur_du_west I'd be there I think I would've just gone home at the end of things. As it was I probably shouldn't have gone anyway cos frankly I was out of the mood by then. Apologies to anyone I may not have seemed terribly enthusiastic towards.

However-as I said, we now have finished backing tracks for the show on Thursday, we should sound good on the night, and the album we're going to do with Brendan should sound terrific. But-and this is a fairly big but-I'm not sure what Jo'h thinks, but I don't think it's feasible for us to do that album with Brendan until he invests in a new computer. The propensity for his current model to fuck up and complicate things must shit him to tears, and it certainly did that to me tonight. Once this gig is over, we'll be writing some new stuff for the album to go with what we've already got, but I think we'll be best advised to wait until Brendan has his beast up and running properly before we go too deeply into the production of them.

Rehearsal and possibly more album stuff Sunday evening. Jo'h's had some more ideas for it, which I'm not entirely happy about... not because they're bad ideas (I haven't heard them in practice yet) but because we already seem to be repeating the pattern that plagued our attempts to put an EP out two years ago, i.e. we'd settle on an eight-track mini-album and then I'd go back two days later to find Jo'h had changed his mind and now wanted it to be a proper 12-track album. Then at the next meeting it'd be down to ten tracks. The thing never actually got released in any of those forms. I'm not having that happen again, sorry.
