Because everyone loves a good catch-22

Browsing the SMH's health section, I spotted this story headline:

Some diabetic kids need depression check-up Poor blood sugar control and frequent emergency room visits are among the signs that a child or adolescent with diabetes may be suffering from depression, according to new research.
The findings suggest that pediatricians or other healthcare providers "might want to consider screening for depressed mood" in young diabetic patients having trouble keeping their blood sugar under control, Dr. Jean M. Lawrence told Reuters Health.
But then, a bit further up the front page of the section:

Antidepressants may increase diabetes risk Study shows that there is a link between the use of antidepressant drugs and diabetes, investigators at the 66th Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association announced. This is the first report of such an association, they say.
So having diabetes can make you depressed, but taking antidepressants can do bad things for your diabetes. Oy.
