YAY MERLINZ!!!

Sep 22, 2009 00:14

Yeah, I know, long time no post. Sorry, life and things, blah blah blah.

One shining light in the darkness has been the promised return of Merlin, and yay! It's finally back! Some brief reactions, though I don't promise they'll be coherent... And apologies for the bullet points that's sooooo not my style! but that's the only way it will ever manage to get posted.

-opening bits- atmospheric but it looks a bit too much like an episode of Robin Hood, with the digging under the castle and stuff (cuz, you know, that never happened in any other tv show I'm sure)

-opening credits- Mackenzie Cook, I know that name... ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I know him!! VERY well cast

-the tomb- booby trapped castle treasury, yup, still reminiscent of RH, with some Who thrown in, like the blue heart of Rassilon! the booby trap of Rassilon! the raven of Rassilon!

-Hmmm this tomb is booby trapped with darts that turn people into dead smurfs. Let's let the king and prince traipse around here in the dark.

-Merlin hitting Cedric with stick- he's been around Arthur too long.

-The boar- not the best effects they've had, sad considering that's something they could have modeled after a real animal.

-Merlin getting hit in the face with a branch- if this is Sherwood Forest, then clearly Merlin is Will Scarlett (I SO see it! I guess that makes Arthur Robin? Yeah I totally see that one too)

-Merlin says "Everything I do is for him, and he just thinks I'm an idiot"... Merlin/Arthur shippers had to be screaming at that.

-on shirtless Arthur- Is that chest hair real??

-languages- I wasn't sure if the inscription was supposed to be in an actual alphabet (I didn't really look closely, maybe Greek?) and Cornelius!Cedric calling on the ramparts, that sounded like a mix of Old English, Latin, and German, not that I really know any of those or was paying that close attention but it sounded pretty good

I kinda forget to be making notes on the rest of it, I do remember yay for Arthur for going to help the people on the bridge, and yay for Arthur thanking Gwen, which is far too many yay's for Arthur in an episode where his relationship with Merlin seems to have taken a step backwards from the end of last season. I liked the way the ending with Gaius and Merlin was done, I kind of feel like they could have left it at that instead of with the cheeky Arthur/Merlin moment at the end per usual.

The series 2 trailer looked pretty awesome, and in particular, OMG YAY MR. ISAAAAAAAAC! Uhm, I mean, yay Lancelot!

Think I'd better shut up and go to bed now ;)
