Doggett and Reyes; I like them, so sue me

Existence

Yah I love that they bought Reyes in to help get Scully away from Billy Miles. I don’t know why but I love her. I know people probably hate her and are hard core Mulder/Scully people, don’t get me wrong they are the show but when they become the two main characters we are faced with each week you need so find some love.

I think they are really interesting and dynamic characters: Reyes and Doggett. They are also complete opposites like Mulder and Scully but Chris was able to have them approach their work and express their beliefs in different ways than Mulder and Scully.

Reyes is more open to ideas and speculation on cases, similar to Mulder. Reyes is an expert in cults, cult related killings and ritualistic killings. She relies on her instincts but hers are more related and attuned with her feelings and senses. This enables her to be more open to possibilities. She doesn’t have the passion that Mulder possesses but she doesn’t let extreme possibilities doubt the nature of a case.

Doggett has been in war, he was a cop and has seen the brutality and violent nature of the human race and relies on his instincts, experiences and the facts to solve the case. He has no problem in dismissing the ‘paranormal’ aspects as he knows people. If there is some aspect that doesn’t add up or make sense he still relies on the human aspect. The human element is the part he is relentless when pursuing the suspect(s) in their cases. When Doggett first arrived on the X Files and through season 8 you felt that Doggett developed a protectiveness and affection for Scully yet she always had a wall. The wall being Mulder. Despite Scully's affection for him, it stayed at a friendship/partners level. As the series went on you could see that Doggett began to realise how much Scully cared for Mulder.

Both Doggett and Reyes, like Mulder and Scully, are close partners. They are loyal and work well with each other as their differences balance out. I love that Reyes and Doggett have a history. They have known each other for years, first meeting on a case involving the disappearance of Doggett’s son. The trust is already there and The X Files has allowed them to further develop in their work and themselves.

Ok I just went on the BIGGEST tangent. I was meant to be writing about Existence but whatever.

All I can say is WTF? They killed Krycek! I love him. He was an awesome ‘bad guy’ He reminded me of Sark in Alias. He was never gone, always in it for himself. You love to hate them! That sucks, I really liked him. I wish they could have kept him alive somehow. I guess they have to go down sometime.

The final scene was just perfect, except the impending disappearance of Mulder.

Mulder takes a few seconds before he enters the room showing his nervousness and excitement. They are adorable gazing at the baby, the intimacy just falling into place. Scully is all wide eyes and grinning uncontrollably. Their miracle. Scully named the baby William after Mulder’s father. OMG FLAIL! They discuss their fear of how and why the miracle came about. More questions of whether the child is purely a miracle or part of the Government’s continued experimentation. For now they are to face the truth that they have known all along. Mulder leans in and Scully follows as they kiss. The camera pans out and we see all three of them together; a unit. Scully, as she raises her hand to rest it upon Mulder’s elbow, drawing out the moment. For a moment we see what they could be. A family.

I interpreted Mulder’s comment about the truth that they both already know, as being that they love each other. They already do on the friendship and trust level, but this is beyond that. The child was a miracle and they need to face what they are and can be to each other. Whats most important. What had started as a dis-trust has grown to friendship, loyalty and unwavering trust in one another. William was a miracle or a gift that represents everything they are to each other. Idk I have babbled on a bit, LOL Its just my inner shipper who just believes that everything centers in and around these two and their relationship, on what ever level.

I have just watched the first two episode of the BBC series Robin Hood. I LOVE IT! Its fun.
I also watched the first two episodes of New Amsterdam. I thought it was pretty good. It reminds me a little of Moonlight. There is a guy who cannot die. When he finds 'the one' he will become mortal and age accordingly. Currently he is a detective in New York but as the series progresses we see that he has had many professions and relationships leading to now. Its interesting I am gonna stick it out and see how it plays out. Eva and John have interesting dynamics. I like it.

Better get back to study........and by study I proabably will watch more Robin Hood.

film: the x files 2, random: uni, tv: the x files, tv: new amsterdam, tv: robin hood, ship: doggett/reyes, ship: mulder/scully
