I am through accepting limits cos someone says they're so

My last post covered London so now I ll move onto New York. I know I am taking my sweet ass time to post what I did but when I think about writing it I keep putting it off. I want a record of everything I did for myself so ya know you can totally skip it. LOL.

New York City! I love this town. I am extremely lucky to have been there a couple of times already so I already had an idea of what to expect cos hello I love it. My friend was a little shocked of the sheer size and busyness of the city but she soon settled and started to love it.
Where do I start?! We were exhausted and tired cos of the trip from London and the time difference but it was New Years Eve so no we could not sleep. We checked in and decided to just go for a walk down Fifth Avenue. This was easy as we were located around 34th and Lexington. It was only a short walk from there.

After our short walk down Fifth Avenue we headed back to the hotel cos we wanted to rest before catching up with our friends for our big night. I was very excited to see Lucy and Alyssa as they have been traveling Europe for the past six months and our plan was to meet in NYC for New Years!
We enjoyed a bottle of wine in our hotel room before we all headed out on the town. I was told the meat packing district had great restaurants and clubs so that was our destination. We grabbed the subway and headed down where the city was buzzing with life and anticipation of the new year. Most restaurants were full or had a set menu that cost a fortune so we kept walking around a bit. We soon found a cute little restaurant that wasn't full. Yah! Enjoyed a nice meal and caught up with Lys and Lucy over a few cosmos. After this we wanted to find a club to dance and welcome in the new year. Ok are you aware that on new years there is a cover charge for all places of 100 bucks?!?!? I KNOW! Its outragous. We were a little shocked but we thought what the hell we are in NYC and its New Years and apparantly that meant open bar. So we found a cool club that was packed and a little cheaper than most to get into. Yes! Now all we need was alcohol. 'Sorry you don't have a wrist band so that is 12 dollars each" "LAKSDHFLAH" SHIT! Why the cashier was away from us we just took the drinks and ran. LOL. I know bad right but we were not paying more money for drinks after the cover charge. It ended up ok because there were so many little areas that had tables set up with alcohol obviously for private parties. The place is large and crowded so with our stealthy abilities we were able to 'aquire' a few drinks off of these. Just before it hit midnight a dude came around with a massive tray of free champagne so yeah we grabbed like three glasses each! AWESOME NIGHT. I love to go clubbing and dance so I loved dancing through into the new year. We were in NYC, on New Year and having a blast. We were all pretty excited and happy. Took like a million photos each.
After a couple of hours of this we headed home.

Next morning we had plans to meet at Kat'z Diner in the village. I was so excited cos When Harry Met Sally is one of my favourite movies. For those who don't know this is the diner where she has her fake orgasm to prove to Harry that woman can fake it.

This was great it was a real diner ya know. Awesome. We all ordered a a sandwich which when arrived was massive. The amount of meat they put in was huge. They piled it on. That is something I noticed a lot in the USA. Everything is big especially the food. You get massive servings everywhere you go. As I am a health freak and am strict with what I eat I was worried about eating. I was lucky though I found a close grocery store that made fresh salads and sandwiches that I lived on the entire time I was there. Though I did lash out when something special was presented my way. I talk about that later.
After lunch we headed down to the pier to see The Body Works exhibition. This was amazing. The exhibition presented real human bodies at different levels. Showing all the muscles, or the organs or the veins etc. It was a bit in your face and we all got a bit squirmish at parts cos it was real human parts on display. It was extremely fascinating though and I enjoyed it. By now I was so tired I could barely keep my eyes open. The jet lag, the late night and probably the fact that I had got up early that morning and went to the gym. Yeah I am crazy I have an addiction. LOL. We checked out Century 21 which was close. I unfortunately was not drawn to buy anything though. Its hard cos there is so much cool stuff and its cheap but I didn't wanna buy it just because its cheap. Lucy and Alyssa headed to the luggage section cos after six months that had accumulated a lot more stuff that when they started. After about half an hour myself and Sarah headed back to our hotel to chill. We were suppose to catch up later with Lucy and Alyssa but I was drained so I stayed in and fell asleep while Sarah went out. LOL. I actually feel asleep watching Hannah Montana. Lame! I know. Now I LOVE Miley Cyrus. LOL. I am a freak.

The next day we had our TV and Movie Tour. Yes! I went on this a couple of years ago when I first came here and so I wanted to do it again cos a/ it rocks and b/ they update it constantly so I was bound to see different locations and stuff.

This tour was a lot of fun. Not only is it a great way to see the city but you get to see some great locations from your favourite movies and tv shows. The tour also had a tv on the bus that showed us clips from the films so that you hadn't seen it you could get an idea of it or refresh your memory. I thought that was a great idea and worked well on the tour. I remember we saw areas seen in Enchanted, Ghostbusters, Sex & The City, Hitch, Superman, Friends and Will & Grace. I remember in particular we went into Rice To Riches. This rice pudding store that is in Hitch. Its apparently the only rice pudding store in the world. Yum I taste tested cookies and cream. It was good. The tour was cool cos I found out little things I didn't know like: Nolita is North of Little Italy, SoHo is South of Housten. We also got one of those black and white cookies that dominated one of the Seinfeld episodes. It was really yummy and huge. I loved the tour. I recommend it if you go to New York.
It was the last night with Lucy and Alyssa so we they came to our hotel room to crash cos they had to leave for the airport at 3am and didn't have anywhere to go. We just chilled, ate dinner and watch tv. Yah Gossip Girls was on. I was a freak. Demanding we had to watch it and no one was to talk so I could take it all in. LOL. They thought I was a little weird cos they hadn't seen the show and thought it was lame. PISS OFF its my guilty pleasure show! They still love me! LOL. We all dozed and woke before they left. It was sad my friend Lucy is now off to Hong Kong for six months to study with her boyfriend. I barely got to catch up with her when I got back from Canada and not enough time in NYC together but she will have an amazing time and I am happy for her. Good times. They left and Sarah and I fell straight back to sleep.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG TODAY WAS THE DAY I WAS SEEING WICKED. I HAVE ONLY BEEN WAITING OVER A YEAR TO SEE IT!!
Man I was so excited but I was pretty composed cos Sarah would be scared if I let out my inner fan girl. LOL. I do that with my cousin. : )

Ok that day was sooooooo cold. I could not feel my legs the entire day. We went to Central Park and went ice skating. So much fun. I love ice skating so it was great to do it again. Took some cool pictures. Walked around the park a bit, more photos, me grumpy cos of the cold so we headed back earlyish. I was annoyed cos I wanted to stay out longer but I could not stand the cold. Until I went past Abercrombie & Fitch and had to go in and ended up there for about an hour and spent over 200 dollars there. LOL. Purchases in hand and Wicked in a few hours I was pretty perky.
OMG OMG OMG. We arrived at the theatre. I bought a program /duh!/ and headed in. Ok I was freaking out I saw the stage and was like 'Yeah I love'. There was a massive map as the curtain. It was old, tea stained coloured with flecks of green. LOVE IT. I am a freak over everything. The set around it was all wooded pillars, ladders and structures. I have some photos Ill post later so you get an idea.
Ok I knew I'd love it and I did. Elphaba was played by Stephanie J Block and Glinda was played by Annaleigh Holzman. They were both great. I loved them. Glinda's character was sooo Kristen Chenoweth. You can totally picture her that ditzy over the top enthusiastic character. I was really happy with the two leads. I was blow away by Stephanie J Block as Elphaba. She was amazing. I think it was her ability as a performer and the character itself. Stephanie was in The Pirate Queen which I had seen earlier that year so I knew she would be great.
The story was amazing to see how 'The Wicked Witch of the West' became. I really loved this story. We follow Elphaba through her journey. Her abilities were used for evil unintentionally. Elphaba being so good and only wanting good to become of her gift but is driven to attempt various spells etc to fix problems. They never go as planned, misinterpretation as people are always assuming the worst from someone who looks/acts different. Yeah I obviously LOVE Elphaba, who doesn't?!?!
Elphaba is the outcast, green with an amazing talent and potential. Its a great character because everyone can see a bit of themselves in her so you are drawn to her. Glinda was just adorably fun, enthusiastic, and likable character. I love how they are complete opposites yet become really great friends. Friendship was a main theme in this story. No matter the differences in your 'exterior' or personality, friendship can develop and last. They had their disagrements and differences but that is part of any relationship and what made them so great together. Gah it was so good. OMG OMG OMG 'What is this feeling?' Fucking brilliant. The songs were friggin awesome. They were all different and bought across the emotions and feelings of the characters. I have always loved singing, dancing and being on stage and man did this make me miss it. LOL.. I just wanted  to get on stage and  be apart of it. The relationship with Fyiero was great too. Elphaba longs to be with him but she is a realist and feels that her ideals and apparance are not enough to sway his attention. She was wrong. Its also about fitting in. Elphaba puts on this tough exterior and says she doesn't care what people think of her but deep down she longs to be 'normal' and fit in. In 'The Wizard and I' she talks about how her powers are a curse to her. It suddenly becomes apparent that she is special and that her abilities may help her meet the wizard. Her childhood dream. I guess she sees the wizard as an amazing person who everyone loves and adores and is drawn to it. Visiting the Emerald City also allows her to fit in as there is a more to explore and relate to: the libraries and museums and the fact that its GREEN! LOL. The shock that the wizard is not who he appears, and that she is being used is such a shock that she tries too hard to fix all the problems. In the end not everything goes as planned but her character is still that of a loyal and loving friend and sister who only wanted to make good. I guess Elphaba is too great for OZ. I wonder what Fyiero and Elphaba get up to after. /ponders/
I just can't even explain my love of this musical. My fav songs would have to be 'What is this feeling?', 'The Wizard and I', 'As Long as You're Mine' and Defying Gravity'. 'Popular and 'One Short Day and 'No Good Deed' are awesome too. 'For Good' was so sweet and sad and it was such a great moment in the story.
Everyone just see it, ok?!
We also went on the Sex & The City Tour. This was so cool. I love SATC but I am not up on all the places and stuff but it was awesome. The tour guide was great, enthusiastic and obviously enjoys it. Once she pointed out places and played clips it was awesome. We got to stop and visit The Pleasure Chest.

This was where Charlotte finds and becomes obsessed with her bunny vibrator. It was hilarious there was so many crazy and hilarious sex toys. Photos were of course taken. LOL. We also got a free spanking paddle. It was so cool.
We saw The Magnolia Bakery and we all got a cupcake and they were delicious. The icing was insanely good. Mmmmmmm I could go for one right now. Carrie's stoop was our next stop. We all got out photo's taken after we had read the rules. yeah there was this huge laminated list of rules when visiting her stoop. It was hilarious, I totally took  a picture of that. Stuff like no talking, stay in a line, file out after your photo in a quiet and timely fashion. LOL. I was giggling the whole time cos it was so stupid and like were were on a school excursion or something. We stopped for a Cosmopolitian at Scout which is actually called O'Neills and that was fun. Took lots of photos and had a ball seeing the city and the many sites and locations seen on the show.

Yes I lucked out and was able to get a ticket to The Lion King which I have wanted to see for ages as well. Not as badly as Wicked but I was still psyched to see the show. I went by myself cos Sarah is not a musical person and one was enough for her. Oh well I got a better seat cos I was by myself. Woot.

Ok this musical was brilliant. The opening song, Circle of Life had everyone cheering on their feet. Yes it was that good. All the colours, costumes and the way they did the animals worked brilliantly. The actors all held a puppet and moved it around. It sounds stupid but it worked well. Scar was brilliant. I LOVED him. He was perfectly evil and the puppet was maneuvered in such a way that it was hard to not grin and enjoy his evilness. Of course the songs were great cos its The Lion King, the songs are classic. It was how they did everything with the puppets and the dances that made it so extraordinary. I had a lot of fun and I am glad I was able to finally see it. Highly recommend this too.

Sweeney Todd was out so I HAD to see it.

Ok Johnny Depp, Tim Burton plus singing. I already loved it. It was so magnificently dark, twisted and sinister and was acted and shot brilliantly. Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp were great as Sweeney Todd and Ms Lovett's. They worked great off of each other. Sweeney Todd is a character with an obsessive drive to inflict revenge on those who destroyed his former life and Ms Lovett is so happy to oblige his every wish. The result: humans into pies. The humour is deprived from the actions of the characters and how easy they go about them. Whilst Sweeney mourns and pines over reuniting with his daughter he is viciously and brutally killing people in his barber chair. Blood is spilled everywhere and Sweeney is immune to the horrors he is inflicting. Ms Lovett happily makes the pies and keeps herself busy looking after the customers and their new helper, a young boy. It can not have a happy end as Sweeney's obsession gets out of control which almost results in him killing his daughter Johanna. His obsession for revenge ends up destroying his wife who was meant to be dead. Death, obsession, revenge, and love are strong themes in the film and are apparent with the body count and the ending. The film was great. See it!

Man we did so much stuff its taking ages to write it all down.
We went shopping a few times in SoHo and the Village which is always fun. I was pretty good with shopping I didn't go crazy so that was good but I did buy some cool stuff.

I hadn't done it on my previous trip so it was great to walk over Brooklyn Bridge. A good walk and a great view of the city. After this we headed to the Staten Island Ferry cos its free and we get to see the Statue of Liberty. Sarah was super excited for this, she is so cute. Everything little thing we saw excited her, escalators, squirrels, a UPS store, yeah she hasn't traveled much so it was all new and exciting for her. I am glad she had a good time.
We did all a few more tourists things like went up the Empire State Building. We went through Macy's looking at the tonne and tonne of clothes on sale. Sadly I didn't really see anything I wanted. : (
We checked out a tonne of bars and restaurants which is part of the whole New York City experience! In particular this cute little Bar called Beauty Bar. You can get a drink and a manicure for $10! It was sooo cool. We had lunch at a cute place called Jane on Housten street. It was classy but had good food and nice atmosphere and reasonably priced. Balthazar was an awesome restaurant that we went to on Spring Street. I went there a few years ago with my Dad and sister and I wanted to go back again. Great food. Busy, slightly noisy atmosphere that I love in a restaurant. Its intimate yet its buzzing with life and has great food. I also saw Jane Krakowski. She was sitting like two seats over from me on the banquet! This was a bonus! Hello, what are the odds? I just got into 30 Rock and am LOVING THE SHIT OUT OF IT! It was a good night.
We hit a few cool bars I read about. Another was part of the Balthazar chain /also Pastis, Artisnal - great places!/ it was Pravda. It was an underground russian style vodka bar. Cool atmosphere, chilled and they made a mean drink.
Another night in the meatpacking district we hit The Maritime Hotel and Hotel Gansevoort. These were cool classy bars to have a good drink with friends. Fun Fun Fun! I love New York you never know what cute little place you'll come across or discover when walking around the city.
One last thing I totally came across by accident was the hotel where they film Gossip Girl. We flew past in in a cab but I knew Id seen it before. It is a current fandom so I knew straight away that it was the hotel where Serena is living and that had so many awesome scenes shot right there in the entrance. Hello that huge christmas tree was still there like from when Rufus was calling Lily!!ALKSHFLAHF YEAH I TOOK A TONNE OF PICTURES!  Such a nice hotel, could never afford it! LOL

OMG this is like the longest post ever! LOL. This is why there are so many cuts. Glad I got it all out though. NYC ROCKS!
Now I have to post about Las Vegas. Ill prob do in a day or two.
