I'm writing this in a coughing haze so I don't know what this is going to say. Oh well.
First, Torchwood.
The two-parter was really kind of good. Well, maybe not objectively, but I think I have the bad-TV gene, so I enjoyed it muchly. It sometimes seems practically designed to be a good fannish show, what with all the subtext, hotness, massive room for interpretation and slight-crappiness-but-in-a-fun-way.
Rhys! Poor Rhys and Gwen. I still love them despite the screwed up relationship. Her acting when she found him, and the aftermath was quite a little bit gut-wrenching.
So glad Tosh and Jack got to have lots of screen-time together, and that she was the one he bonded with for a change. And yay, finally he reveals Stuff about himself. Took him long enough (yes, he's the angsty silent type now apparently, but still). The dance and kiss between him and the real Captain Jack was very sweet, but I couldn't really engage with it because it felt so incongruous. They're in the 1940s UK, and they're two men openly slow-dancing and kissing? Really? Both Captain Jacks obviously didn't care, but I couldn't help worrying that after fake Jack left, and before real Jack went on the training mission and, you know, that he was going to spend about 10 hours in the company of a bigoted mob. It reminded me of the public school dance at the end of season 1 of QaF US that ended in a beating, and *that* happened in late 20th century America. So yeah, that part kind of ruined the sweetness of the moment.
The Jack/Inato kiss though? Hot and cute and angsty and dammit I want more of that couple.
Eeee, the hand! He's coming! Fantastic ending. I love how Torchwood is mainly separated from Doctor Who, but the Doctor's world still winds its way through occasionally.
So this is mainly positive stuff because there was some stuff that didn't work for me, but I'm on cold medicine so wheee! Buttercup syrup high!
Edit: I just remembered that there was a story two days agao about Starsky being in Celebrity BB. It's not true, right? I haven't seen any news yet, so I'm uninformed :(
