outlook: good

So, I've had a good couple days.  I haven't actually gotten that much done (well, I baby-sat quite a bit, which is good 'cuz I need the $), but I am feeling pretty inspired.  I've had some good conversations which have led to insights into what I think I want to do--with life in general, but more specifically with my life in the next year or so.

I really like coordinating projects, events, etc.  Not just any events, but 'meaningful' things, like helping set up a mentoring program, coordinating volunteers for community service, etc.  There is definitely work in non-profits for volunteer coordinating, event planning, etc., which I've known, but I've always felt sort of unqualified to apply.   Anyway, as many of you know, I am moving back to Carlisle in August, and while I have an apartment and the best roommate ever (yeah, Melissa!), I am still unemployed.  And I've been sort of dragging my feet about job searching, probably because I haven't really felt super-excited about any prospects.  Anyway, now I'm feeling like I have a plan:

As I said, I don't really think I'm going to find a perfect non-profit job in the Greater Carlisle area, put I do have connections, such as with Project SHARE.  So I'm thinking I might look into waitressing full time (which I wouldn't mind a bit) and doing an unpaid internship-type thing with a non profit part time (presumably most of the serving would be nights/weekends).

So I'm going to get on that tomorrow--right after my dentist appointment with the pediatric dentist who I have gone to since 1985.  :0)  Seriously, am I going to have to go to another dentist some day?  I'm not sure I can handle that.....;-)
