When last we saw Raquel, she was working at some weird dude's basement contemplating coming home to good old Georgia to live with her mama. Just a week after the final decision was made, she received a phone call from her KForce Scientific Staffing agent with a promising lead. It seemed there was an opening at the Alberto Culver Corporate Headquarters' Research and Development Department. Feigning illness to attend an interview and get hired a week later, Raquel decided to take the job and has been working there since the beginning of August. It pays well. It is in the suburbs. And it is, at least, mildly stimulating to her mind. She has a cubicle now, but she finds it beats the basement of some family's house.
Meanwhile, on the personal side. Raquel had made up her mind that the long-distance relationship she was struggling to maintain was terribly frustrating and draining. Raquel's fiancee is in San Diego having a blast and she sits at home wondering if today he will cheat on her. Realizing the depth of his character, Raquel decides that this goofy guy is worth trying and immediately bought a roundtrip ticket to San Diego for Thanksgiving (thanks to the earnings of her new cubicle job). They also decided that it was time, after breaking up, packing his things, then making up again (just try to imagine this as all happening on the phone), to marry. Discovering that her fiancee would be shipping out to Japan in a few months, they set a date for December 9th of this year. Frustrated with trying to plan an inexpensive, last minute wedding, they postponed it until November of next year. It could very well be on Thanksgiving day, and in Norfolk, Virginia. You will receive an actual invitation. Raquel is overjoyed.
