9: Good Omens Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman [print]
This was a re-read and my choice for this month's book group. Only one other person liked it - clearly they are a bunch of philistines! It hasn't affected my fondness for this book - and it is also worth noting that I enjoyed the Radio 4 adaptation that was on over Christmas.
10: Broadchuch: Protection (story 5) Chris Chibnall [kindle - short story]
Not one of my favourite stories from this series, but I haven't warmed to either member of the defence team. The best bit was the conversation between the judge and both barristers (prosecution and defence) over dinner at the judge's lodgings.
11: Cecily Neville: Mother of Kings Amy Licence [print]
One of the most interesting things about this is how little evidence there is about Cecily's life, despite her position close to the centre of power for much of the C15th. Amy Licence has used what evidence there is to give a new pespective on the Wars of the Roses. I very much enjoyed it.
12: The Little Endless Storybook Jill Thompson [print]
I felt the need for cheering up after a particularly rubbish day. This did the job. I love the sweet little story about Del and Barnabas.
13: Broadchurch: One more secret (story 6) Chris Chibnall [kindle - short story]
One of the better stories, particularly being able to read it after the revalations at the end of the episode.
14: Broadchurch: The leaving of Claire Ripley (story 7) Chris Chibnall [kindle - short story]
Meh. Really didn't like this one, but again this is a character I have failed to warm to. Not helped by the fact that I didn't like Eve Myles in Torchwood much either.
15: The Railway Detective Collection Edward Marston [kindle - omnibus]
This was an omnibus edition of the first three novels in the Railway Dectective series - The Railway Detective, The Excursion Train, and The Railway Viaduct. I have never read any of these before, although they have been recommended to me. I enjoyed them - good plots and good characters, and well written. Definitely intend to read more of this series.
16: Broadchurch: Thirteen hours (story 8) Erin Kelly [kindle - short story]
Considering how good some of the earlier stories were, the last two were a real let down. This took us back to the 13 hours before season 1 started, and they needn't have bothered. A real let down.
