Superstition Extra's: Community Lots

Oct 24, 2009 16:35

Here we are. Yet more extra's from Knock on Wood. This time its a profile of all the communtiy lots in Crystal Lake. I decided to name all of my community lots after places and locations from my favourite books and series.
Now a few of these have yet to appear in the legacy, so consider them a coming soon preview. Remember also, i re-decorate at every possible opportunity. So if you dont recognise a place but your sure you've seen it, Blame my continuity errors. Without further ado, Enjoy!

Name: Founders Square
Inspiration: I got this name from my beloved Morganville Vampire series of novels by Rachel Caine. Now the square in the series is the cornerstone of the town founded by vampires. Lets just say its not a place to visit after dark...
Description: A wide expanse of stone, fountains, and topiary, with a few coffee stations thrown in for fun. Founders Square is the place to meet and greet your friends before moving onto pastures new.

Name: Holy Grounds
Inspiration: The Coffee shop from the Garnet Lacey Series by Tate Hallaway. In these books the coffee shop is next door to the herrorines New Age Store. And they do the best Honey Lattes in the state of Wisconsin.
Description: Holy Grounds is the premier spot for caffinated beverages in Crystal Lake. One of the oldest buildings in the town the interior is a warm and inviting place...even if its a little bit esoteric.

Name: Mercurry Crossing
Inspiration: Again from the Garnet Lacey Series by Tate Hallaway. Mercurry Crossing is the Magick shop in wich the herrorine (Garnet Lacey) manages. Stock full of not only books but every item a practicing witch might need.
Description: Mercurry Crossing is a little known gem. The only shop for miles around that caters to your magickal supply needs. Stop by if you need a random artifact or even just some good advice.

Name: Netherfield Park.
Inspiration: Of course it needs no explanation. But just in case Netherfield Park is the stately home of Mr Bingley and his Sisters from the outstanding novel by Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice.
Description: The only place of beauty left in Crystal Lake. Netherfield park is a wonderfull spot to waste away an afternoon. While away your time by the picturesque river or trek through the shaded woodland. At Netherfield you cant go wrong.

Name: The Overlook Motel.
Inspiration: A fantastic novel The Shining by one of my favourite Authours Stephen King. In this novel (just in case you have't seen the movie) A young family, a husband, wife and clairvoyant son. Are left in charge of an empty hotel for the off season. Of course horror mayhem and bloodshed all happen in due course. But still ive always had a thing for Hotels and i would love it to just walk around one and never see another living soul. I'd stay out of room 217 though.
Description: The Overlook is the only Motel within the city limits. Built in the mid 70's the Overlook is in the height of style. All geometric patterns and lime green upholstery. Stay for the night or for the week. We at the Overlook are very accomidating.

Name: Penny Lane
Inspiration: This lot is the only remenant of when i used to name my lots after Superstitious themes. And of course Penny Lane is an amazing song by an amazing band. The Beatles.
Description: The one stop shop for all things necessary in Crystal Lake. Penny Lane has a coffee shop, Eletronics store, Book store, Bar, Clothing store, and a large car park. Everything you would ever need in this town.

Name: Pretences
Inspiration: This time i borrowed from another of my favourites Nora Roberts. A writer who is fond of her trilogys. In this trilogy (Dream trilogy) three friends, A model, a Socialite, and an acoutant. Open up a second hand store that sells high end antiques and expensive knick knacks.
Description: The only place for persons of substance to go and find that special outfit for that Xmas party. Pretences is a clothing store like no other. Catering to both male and females. This classy store is what your wardrobe has been begging for.

Name: The Red Bar
Insiration: None at all. Surprisingly i just needed a bar for one of my simselves. She's vain enough to name it after herself. *sheepish grin*
Description: When the sun goes down, theres only one place in Crystal Lake you should head. The Red Bar offers simple pleasures. Alcohol and music. who needs anything else! Now come and spend some money...what are you, chicken?

Name: Sanctuary
Inspiration: Another beloved series of mine. The Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Now there are alot of books in this series and ive read them all out of order. But in this universe there is a bar in New Orleans where Dark Hunters, Daimons, Shapeshifters, and even Gods can mingle and be safe from each other. Just remember to listen out for Sweet home Alabama ;-)
Description: Sanctuary is the oldest cemetary in Crystal Lake. No one uses it anymore and it has fallen into a state of disrepair. Of course between the overgrown tombstones and decaying crypts anyone who sets foot there is safe from harm. For this is Hallowed ground and as long as those in power hold their position. No one who wishes you harm may set foot here.

Name: Kalosis Gym
Inspiration: Again i used Sherrilyn Kenyons Dark Hunter series. Although those of you who know your mythology will be familiar with Kalosis...aka Hell.
Description: Kalosis is the only place in Crytal Lake where the health concious can come and pump iron, or run a few miles all in the comfort of one building. The Gym comes complete with showers and secure lockers.

Name: St Hazel's
Inspiration: Again theres no outside source of inspiration. While my other simself has a bar after her name. This simself has a church after hers.
Description: St Hazel's is a hallowed place. The second oldest church in the city. And the only one still open to the public. Warmth and acceptance can be found here. Maybe you just need a place to sit and think. St Hazels has it all.

Name: The Rocker
Inspiration: The rock and roll warewolf bar in Keri Arthurs fantastic series. The Riley Jenson Guardian series. I love this series and one of my favourite characters prefered this bar above all the others.
Description: The Rocker is in a constant change of management. But it still is the place to be on a saturday night. The rocker is a good old fashioned bar with live music every night and all the pool you could ever play.
