yesterday we had to put my dog to sleep. It wasn't like it was a surprise but I didn't think it would happen so soon. She had a tumor on her leg that the vet said was cancer and we could either do surgery or not, if we didn't she would die without a doubt because the cancer would spread and quickly because of her age, if we did do surgery then there was still a possibility she could die, because of her age. So tuesday she went in to have her surgery and she did fine she didn't react badly to the anesthetic and so the vet called my parents and said they could come pick her. I guess she reacted to the anesthetic and she started throwing up badly so they wanted to keep her overnight just in case she took a turn for the worse. So wednesday morning my mom wakes me up at like 8:30 and says we have to go see mandy she's gotten worse and they might have to put her down. So we get there and we have time to visit her and we go into one of their rooms and she is what they call vocalizing. I don't know why she did this but I've never heard her make a sound like that before. It was like she was whinning and wheezing and barking all at the same time. The vet said that she had had a seizure or a stroke at about eight this morning. She had another stroke while we were there and the vet, my dad, my mom, and me all had to restrain her body from breaking against the wall. So we sat there as the vet gave her the euthanasia and watched her "fall asleep"
Last night and this morning were hard because evey night she would sleep out side my door and I would have to shuffle around and find her body so I woldn't step on her. I did that last night and I didn't feel anything. Coming out of the kitchen she usually lies where everyone can step on her and gets in the way so when I came around the corner and expected to find her all I saw was empty floor and at first I was going to look by my mom's chair and expect to find her there and when she wasn't I realized she's gone. She really was a good dog, stinky, and greasy and ate cat shit but she was a good dog.
