Yawn

At least while I am on my own, when I have a bad night like last night I can toss and turn without worrying about disturbing anyone else, and do things like put on an audio book to (hopefully) fall asleep to.

The bedtime stories are plots that I know well, so they do well as a diversion without engaging my brain too much. Currently it is a version of Hitch-hikers'.

The advice when you can't sleep is not to try too hard to - cos that just adds to the stress about it and has the opposite effect. One tip is not to have a clock visible so you are not clock watching, but I quite like the evidence that I have lost an hour or so. Of course I am so short sighted that I have to deliberately look closely at the time rather than it being constantly in my face.

The next choice is whether to allow myself an afternoon nap to 'catch up' on sleep, daytime sleeps being associated with my more depressed/healing times.
