Kim eyed all the people around her and saw frills and pastel colours of dresses surrounding her peripheral view. She took a sip from her drink and sighed for the nth time as she once again gazed through what she’s wearing - her usual jeans and favourite t-shirt.
It was only a few hours ago when Rio invited her to go out with their usual friends to go on a stroll around the city. Don’t get me wrong; Kim loves hanging out with her friends but the sight of being out of place just because of her attire is enough to make her down to her miseries. Once again, her definite gaze was detoured to the pretty dresses her friends were wearing and compared them to her usual casual attire.
“Don’t worry nee-chan~ you’re not alone…” Kim felt a sudden pat on her shoulder as she forced herself to turn around only to see a familiar figure before her. Rio - the only girl that gets her - the one person that can understand that ‘beauty can be acquired without being uncomfortable’. Heck! That can be Kim’s motto...
“You really do understand me…” she chuckled as she eyed what Rio is wearing - her girlish top with her skinny jeans. Still girly but at least she’s on with her jeans…
Kim was about to complement their similarities when a familiar boy stopped in front and just gave the biggest grin ever. As usual, he eyed Kim like a real rival and just gave her a ‘not-so-friendly-look’.
“Don’t start Kei…” she mouthed and turned away from his figure. They’ve been like that since the beginning of school year - always bickering… but one thing about Kei; he’s the only one who can tame our poor heroine.
“What are you talking about? I’m about to praise you…” Kei mocked and leaned closer to the frowning girl in front of him… “T-shirt and jeans suits you… More reason why you’re single.”
These words tingled on Kim’s ear which is enough to make her nearly erupting. She felt a sudden hot feeling on her ears and in the urge of strangling the latter. What’s worst? Kei added one more disturbing thing…
“Reason why you’re still single… SINCE BIRTH”

The next thing Kim heard was Rio’s chuckle, amused about the couple… “You should just go out with each other…” Rio suggested and raised an eyebrow. She portrayed a mocking voice but somehow gave off an interesting idea.
“Only blind people would date someone like her…” Kei uttered, clearly enjoying mocking the girl.
“Hah! Do you think you’re handsome? You must be kidding…” Kim countered his insult and stood up grumpily from her chair… “HOY!! MAPUTI ka lang at MATANGKAD! Mas POGI pa sayo si Daniel Padilla! (Hey! You’re just taller and less tanned than me. Daniel Padilla is more handsome than you!)” she said abruptly without even thinking. You see, Kim and Rio are multilingual puppies. She knows Filipino language along with Japanese and English. This makes Inoo within the disadvantage.
By this, Inoo just shook his head and glared at Kim ready to further give disturbing comments about her boyish attire. However, he was disturbed by Kim’s ringtone which is enough to make him stop and let her answer.
Kim then felt the urge to answer the phone and let Inoo speak to Rio for a while. She saw her mother’s name on the screen and immediately pressed the green icon.

“Kaa-chan?” she mouthed, holding up her mobile.
“Kim… hurry and come home! I’ll let you meet your fiancé” Kim’s mother excitedly said which made her frozen from where she was standing. She blinked twice trying to process what her mother just said and tried her best to ask again…
“Say what?!!” she asked with a frown. The word ‘fiancé’ is definitely not the best word for her. Not a single boy in her life since birth… and now THIS?
“Your dad’s boss is looking for someone for her son. We can’t really decline so the least thing to do is to meet him! Just come home and I’ll explain more later! Dalian mo (hurry up)!” her mother hanged up the phone that immediately pulled her legs involuntarily towards the bus station.
She turned to the innocent Rio and bid her good byes and basically ignored Inoo Kei who’s now feeling the cold treatment given by Kim. Within a flash, her figure disappeared - ready to meet her sudden fiancé to be.
“My parents are crazy…”

“What’s the matter with her?” Kei asked Rio who seems to be following Kim’s figure towards the bus station.
“I have no idea… but she seems to be panicking…” Rio said in a worried tone. However, a sudden change of facial expression made her face glow as she give off a cheeky grin on the surface of her face.
“Inoo-kun~ Will you go out with my nee-chan?” Rio started and smiled widely at Kei… “She’s pretty and cool! And who knows, someone might take her away from you…” she continued, ready to persuade the man up front.
Hearing this, Inoo stayed quiet for a while. He stared at Rio for mere seconds as if thinking of something serious… “I wish it’s that simple” he thought to himself, not allowing Rio to read his mind. He was about to reject Rio’s idea when his own phone rang from his pocket. A sudden vibration was felt which enough to make him take his phone out. Within seconds, Mrs Inoo is now asking him to meet her up.
“Why do I have to go?” Kei protested on his mouth piece over his phone.
“Just hurry up and meet me here! I’ll text you the address” he heard his mother’s subtle but demanding voice over the phone which is enough to make him involuntarily obey her words… “And dress up properly! You’ll meet your fiancé!”
“MY WHAT?!” he almost shouted, making Rio turn around on his direction.
“No time explaining! Just get here as soon as possible…” Mrs. Inoo hanged up the phone making her son dumbfounded. Kei then slowly turned his head towards Rio who’s now confused about what’s going on. First it’s Kim…. Now it’s Kei.
“What’s wrong?” Rio asked worriedly after seeing the alarmed face of her senpai. The word ‘Fiancé’ tingled inside his ears that somehow made the image of Kim flash on his mind. He rolled his eyes that indicated his firm rejection about the idea of being suddenly engaged. He knows his mother too well... a sudden crazy thought hit her, and she'll be determined to do it.

“Rio-chan!” Kei rapidly grabbed both Rio’s shoulder… “What will you do if your parents suddenly said you’re engaged to someone you don’t even know?” he uttered, clearly asking advice from the clueless younger girl. Yet, Rio was cooperative enough to answer honestly…
“Hmm~ firstly, I’ll wish that Yama-chan would rescue me! I imagine him opposing my parents and beheading the guy I’m arranged to be married with…” Rio started to sigh with admiration with her fantasies thrown at Kei. Inoo just rolled his eyes after seeing a flailing girl in front of her. Yamada is Rio’s life time crush, you see. Like Kim, this girl is also clueless about her love life.
“But secondly… I’ll simply reject the offer…” Rio sensed that Kei is a bit out of it and just gave off a serious answer. This statement made the boy’s face lighten up slightly.
“Just reject ne?” Kei uttered and walked towards the bus stop, ready to obey his mother… “Thanks Rio-chan… I need to go! I just hope Yama-chan will just confess to you already. Jia~”

*30 minutes later*
Kei looked at his phone and took his time trying to think of a good excuse to his mom. He took a glance at the address on his phone to make sure he got the right one. With doubtful face, he pressed the door bell and waited for an answer.
It’s not long when an unfamiliar figure opened the door and gave off the biggest smile on her face.
“You must be Kei-chan ne?” the lady smiled widely and guided Kei inside their household. He politely bowed his head slightly and eyes the interior of a typical Japanese household with pictures of family members on every display table.
“Konnichiwa… I was instructed to come here --” he started with a mellow voice. However, his sentence went flat when he suddenly saw Kim talking casually with his mom - as if they know each other for a long time.
The gazes of both Kim and Kei met each other which is enough to make their eye brows meet at the centre of their foreheads. A random mixed feelings and confusion lingered through them along with the awkward atmosphere within the area. With hearts pounding, they explored the situation with doubtful looks on their faces. This can't be happening, right? The comic duo being engaged?

“Ahh Kim-chan… I want you to meet my son… Kei Inoo~” Mrs Inoo introduces her beloved son with a smile… “Kei… Your fiancé…”
Both of them froze for a while and suddenly felt the urge to fight off this crazy coincidence.
“YOU??!!!!!!” Kei and Kim said in perfect sync as if singing their favourite chorus of a song. They eyed each other with confused faces, ready to question their parents about this ‘arranged marriage’ incident. Within a flash, their worlds turned upside down.
