Ohayo minna!! Genki? I'm Shida Mirai. 17 years old. Okay, I guess I need to say this... Basically I'm a boy...
Shida Mirai is a high school student with a reputation of being the tomboy of the whole high school. She doesn't consider herself girly at all. No pink clothes, no make up, most of all, no love life. In fact, some describe her as a real 'tough' one.

Minna-San... How you all doing? I'm Yamada Ryosuke of Hey! Say! Jump. I'm sure you all know me ne? Yoroshiku.
Yamada Ryosuke. 17 years old. Current member of Hey! Say! Jump. One of the most popular j-pop group in japan. Being famous and all, he's a happy go lucky boy that think everything goes the way he want it. However, he's a real heartthrob making all girls fall in love with him. Except for one... A girl called Shida Mirai.

"woahhh... She's pretty..." Yamada told Daiki losing his whole concentration just looking on one girl.
"ahhh... I know. But you better look for someone else Yama-chan... I heard she's a tough one. Ne Keito?" Daiki turned to Keito who's sitting next to him.
Keito replied with a dedicated nod. "I heard someone confessed to her but she turned him down badly!! As in badly... She'll be quite a challenge."
"ehhh?? where are you hearing this stuff? She's still just a girl." Yamada disapproved with the comments and reassured himself that he can get any girl he wants.
"well I heard she's quite popular with the boys." Daiki answered.
"Hai... Shida Mirai. I heard she's transferring to our school tomorrow. In her previous school, a total of 4 boys confessed to her on her first day but she turned them all down. Since then, boys are afraid of her. Sugoi ne?" Chinen joined their conversation with some amazing facts about Shida.
"really?? Sugoi!!" one of the members complemented.
Without Yamada realising, he just found all the JUMP members eavesdropping in their conversation.
"ehhh?? Seems like all of you are interested in her huh?!" Yamada quite surprised seeing all the members talking about the same girl. This triggered a sense of challenge to him.
"yosh!! I bet I can make her my girlfriend within a month." Yamada said with confidence.
"nani?? A month?? Impossible..." Yabu answered with a frown on his face.
"I'm serious!! Just give me a month" Yamada answered convincing all the members to support him.
The members just gave a big "sigh..." to Yamada giving the impression that he's indeed talking nonsense.
"where are you getting all your confidence from? You can't get all the girl you want, you know." Hikaru tried to lessen Yamada's self confidence.
"wait wait!! I told you... Just give me a month!! I bet I can make her fall in love with me." he replied still full of confidence.
"You're really persistent huh? Alright then, how much do you bet?" Yabu said playfully.
"how about a 10,000 yen?"
"what?? Hah! Are you serious? You don't have chance with her I tell you" Another member disapproves with him.
"Try me. If you guys win, I'll treat all of you dinner worth 10,000 yen. But If I win, you guys will pay me 10,000 yen."
All the members just laughed with his confidence but agreed with him playfully not knowing Yamada is actually serious about the bet...
"yosh!! I'll show you what I'm capable of. Hah!"

*next day...*
"Ohayo!!" Chinen greeted everyone with a great smile then immediately came up to Yamada and whispered: "yama-chan, I heard Mirai-San is coming to our class today."
Yamada suddenly stood up as Chinen broke his sleepiness.
"really? Yatta!!"
*school bell*
"minna please take your seats... I want you to meet the new transfer student... Mirai-San please come in." the teacher allowed Shida in to meet everyone.
"hajimemashite... Shida Mirai desu... Yoroshiku.." she introduced herself formally and turned to the teacher.
"Mirai-chan will be in our class starting from today. I hope you all get along well with her." the teacher smiled to her students still staring at Shida.
"minna, do you have any questions for her?" the teacher asked before letting Shida know where to sit.
"hai hai!!! Are you good at sports Mirai-San? You should join our club after school." one classmate asked being friendly with Shida.
"I'm not really good at sports but I'll try." Shida answered with a half smile.
"kawaii!!" the boys sighed quietly after seeing the cute girl smile.
After that, bunch of questions were asked after another, over flowing the class discussion only asking about her hobbies.
Finally, hearing all the noise, Yamada stood up putting his hand in the air... "hai... I have a question..."
Everyone suddenly became quiet because of the sudden words from Yamada.
"Are you free after school? I'll be honoured to show you around school." Yamada said with a playful smirk on his face.
All the girls looked at him with admiration yet the JUMP members just laughed at him then looked at Shida's reaction.
Instead, Shida just looked to the teacher and said: "sensei, where should I sit? I think I had enough questions today."
Yamada froze by her cold comment as she watch Shida take a seat near the window where the teacher asked her to sit.
"Yamada-kun, please take a seat and we'll start the lesson." the teacher requested.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Yamada Ryosuke's epic fail!!" Yuto teased him quietly not letting the teacher hear.
The other members sniggered and said: "1-0... Woahhh... She's winning!!"
"shahhh!!" Yamada ran out of words after what happen. "I never lose.." he thought.

Shida's first day of school almost comes to an end but Yamada seems to not let the day end without making his move.
"hey... You seem to get along with everyone. I'm Yamada Ryosuke by the way." Yamada reached out his hand asking for Shida's friendly handshake.
Shida shook his hand and said: "You're the cocky boy earlier. Nice to meet you." Shida gave off a fake smile that is easily noticed by Yamada.
"ehh?! What do you have against me? I'm just being friendly, you know." he replied while she walked away from him.
Shida suddenly turned back to him to answer his question... "I don't have anything against you. I just don't like boys generally."
As she walked away again, Yamada answered with a annoyed expression and even without thinking, he insensitively said: "Are you on your period or something? I haven't seen a girl treat me that way unless they have their monthly thing..."
As he said that quite loudly, all the people in the corridor looked at Shida and some laughed.
Being insulted, Shida grumpily came up to him... "what??!!! I... I told you I just don't like boys. That's it. Is that not enough for you??!" she said with a high pitched voice... "and I don't have my period today!!"
Yamada, not knowing when to stop, continued the argument with a even disturbing comment for Shida. "if you don't have your period, then you must be a lesbian."
Shida gave off a shocked face and looked Yamada with a sharp stare. "I hate you..."
Having watched all of this, all the Jump members just looked at Yamada thinking: "you're dead man!!"
Not contented leaving insulted like that, Shida got her revenge by stepping on Yamada's foot which made him scream painfully.
"you're a total jerk!!" she whispered to his ear.
Leaving Yamada in a painful state, Yuto and Chinen approached him first then the other members followed. "man, you got beaten up by a girl... Tsk tsk... I think you've met your match."
"I'll get her for this..." he said still holding his hurt foot.

2 days had passed since Yamada's first move on Shida which obviously failed. Shida and Yamada didn't talk to each other since then and occasionally looked at each other with blank expression.
"what happen to you Yama-chan? I thought you've got it under control? It's been 2 days and nothing's still happening between you two." Chinen teased him with a cheeky expression.
Yamada didn't answer. Instead, he turned around facing the window beside him.
"Maybe he gave up?! I knew it..." Daiki continued.
Looking at the depressed Yamada, one by one, the members touched him by the shoulder with sympathy. "cheer up... There's other fish in the sea."

"Ohayo minna!! Please take your seats so we can start" the teacher in charge instructed the class.
"I want to tell you about our next topic in psychology. It's about self reports. By this, I'll assign each of you with a partner then you'll go around town to gather participants to do your questionnaire. Naturally, as part of your assessment, you need to make the questionnaire yourself as a pair."
Hearing this, the whole of the class moaned not being bothered about the task set by the teacher.
"In this hat, you'll pick out a number. Anyone who get the same number will be partners in this task." the teacher continued ignoring all the moaning she heard from the class.
"douzo..." she made everyone pick their number and allowed them to find their partners respectively.
Meanwhile, Yamada still heavily sitting in his chair took the piece of paper and read it out to the class "I got number 4!! Please come to me my beloved partner..."
Suddenly and unexpectedly, someone pushed Shida in front of him. "she got number 4 Yamada-kun"
"ehhh?? Uso..." Yamada immediately stood up from his chair having looked who his partner was.
"hai... I'll be your partner. Unfortunately..." Shida whispered.
"yoroshiku..." Yamada replied with a bashful smile not knowing what will happen working with a girl who practically hates him.
"yosh... Minna, you can now discuss what type of questionnaire you're gonna make with your partner. You can also choose when and where to collect people to do your questionnaire."
"okay, let's get this over with. We can conduct a questionnaire about what people usually buy at super markets and see which shops are really popular to them..." Shida explained her whole idea but all Ryosuke did was watch her open her mouth and be captivated by the concentrated Shida.
"oyyy... Are you listening to me?!"
"huh?! Yeah.. I totally agree..." Yamada just replied with affirmation without even knowing what she's talking about.
"tsk tsk... I'll do the questionnaire now. Just photocopy them later."
*the very next day...*
Shida and Yamada went to the local super market together to do their task...
"all we have to do is ask people to answer this then we can go back to school" Shida still talked coldly to Yamada not forgetting the humiliation he brought to her the other day.
The two did their best to distribute the questionnaires and acquired all the results they want after seeing people who are cooperative enough to answer their questionnaires and some people who just basically ignored them.

"yosh... Our job is done... It's quite tiring ne? Shida-san?" Yamada said with a friendly tone.
"we better go back. I'm tired!!" Shida recommended.
However, a middle aged woman wearing a maid cafe costume approached them...
"congratulations!! You have been selected to be our couple of the day!!" the lady said sweetly.
"ehhhh???" Shida said shaking her head.
"we are offering 2 free food vouchers to our coffee shop to the chosen couple. Just answer one question and you'll get the free vouchers."
Unexpectedly, after hearing the words "free food vouchers", Yamada put his arm around Shida's shoulder
"okay, it's free right? What's the question?"
Hearing this, Shida whispered to him: "what are you doing?"
"it's free. We might as well take advantage of it.." he whispered back.
Shida frowned at him and hit him on the stomach with her elbow.
"ITAI!!!" he said softly.
"ohh, are you alright honey? I'm just being carried away by all this. I'm sorry babe." Shida said having decided to get along with Yamada's plan on taking advantage for the free vouchers.
"awww... You guys are so sweet" the lady said with a smile.
"okay, here's the question... What is the favourite food of your partner?..."
Without even making the lady finish the instructions, the two replied in perfect sync.
"strawberry shortcake..." the two echoed with each other's voices.
The lady, being amazed, became quite speechless and said:
"woahh... Sugoi!! You two are perfect for each other."
Without even knowing, Shida's face turned red.
"douzo... Please allow me to guide you to our cafe." the lady said while handing them 2 pink vouchers.
The lady then led the way and walked in front of them.
"how did you know my favourite food?" Yamada asked.
"well, I saw the bakery stall next to that shop and I saw the strawberry shortcake on offer. That's why I feel like eating it. I have no idea that's your favourite food." Shida giggled with her reply being amused by the coincident.
"ehhh?? Sugoi!!..." Yamada just looked at her as he see her smile.
"you know what, you don't look that scary when you smile. It's quite cute actually." Yamada continued.
Shida suddenly frowned on him...
"shut up!!"
Soon enough, they arrived the shop and found a whole bunch of ladies wearing maid uniform just like the one earlier.
"what would you like in our menu?" another lady wearing a maid costume approached them.
"I'll have strawberry shortcake please..." Yamada said with a smile looking at Shida.
"I'll have the same please."
"certainly..." the waitress passed the piece of paper to her colleague and offered the couple with another surprise.
"while you're waiting, we want to take a photo of you two as a remembrance... Please strike a pose."
Without knowing what to do, Shida just shook her head insisting she's against the idea. However, Yamada put his arm around her and smiled. The next thing Shida know is that she's already holding the developed photo in her hand with a heart frame on it.
She can see Yamada looking at the photo with a naive look on his face.
"Baka!!! You're so easy to please." she thought yet also thinking how naively cute Yamada is sitting opposite her.
After eating their honourable strawberry shortcake, the couple left the shop with satisfied smiles on their faces.
"I enjoyed that Shida-san. Because of you... Thanks..." Yamada said with the most charming smile ever.
Shida suddenly blushed and looked away. "Baka! It's just the strawberry shortcake that made it special Yama-chan."
"I guess I need to go now. I still have chores to do at home." she added.
As she attempted to go, Yamada stopped her by grabbing her arm unexpectedly. "Chotto... What did you just call me?? You called me Yama-chan?"
Shida remained silent. Then said: "shut up..."
Yamada giggled and replied: " I guess you like me a little bit now ne?"

*the next day*
"Ohayo Shida-chan..." Yamada greeted Shida cheerfully as he travel across her front desk.
"Ohayo Yama-chan" she replied quietly only Yamada can hear.
Yamada smiled at her making her face quite red.
Suddenly, he pulled out a small envelope from his bag and gave it to Shida.
"nani kore?"
"since you like me a bit, I'll give you this!"
Shida opened the envelope slowly and found a picture inside. It was the picture of them together in the cafe taken by one of the waitress.
Shida's face became even redder.
"kawaii Shida-chan... You're actually blushing!! That's the second sign you're starting to like me..." Yamada teased her with a cheeky smirk in his face.
"shut up Yama-chan!! Don't flatter yourself! I'm not blushing!!" Shida shouted unexpectedly allowing people in the room hear.
All the people in the classroom looked at Shida.
Being so embarrassed, all Shida can do is bow her head and sit quietly on her chair.
Yamada gave off a big laugh and saved Shida from the humiliation.
"gomen minna... Shida-chan and I are practising a scene in my new drama. She just got over board."
Everyone in the room started to accept Yamada's excuse about Shida's outburst...
Ryosuke then turned to Mirai and said:
"your welcome ojousama..." Yamada whispered silently to Shida's ear.
"hazukashi!!!" Shida said to herself.

"here..." Shida gave Yamada a small box.
"what's this? It's not my birthday..."
"you saved me yesterday right?" Shida said still thinking about what Yamada did for her to save her from the humiliation.
Yamada opened the box and found a cute strawberry shortcake. "kawaii!!! It's for me?"
He smiled with excitement as he look at the cake.
"thank you!!" he suddenly gave Shida a big hug showing how much he appreciate the gift.
Without saying anything, Shida go to her seat thinking: "what is wrong with me? I feel so weird!!"
She looked again to Yamada and found a very cute boy eating a strawberry shortcake happily with a big smile. Shida just found herself smiling at the scene.

"is this love??" one classmate of Shida teased her playfully.
"ehhh?? Well, you seem to be liking him more now Mirai-chan... It's Yamada-kun anyway, everyone likes him." another continued the teasing.
"there's no way I'm gonna fall in love with him!! Geez..." Shida replied with annoyance disagreeing with the comments her friends made.
"okay, anything you say!! But don't be afraid to admit it ne?" they said with a laugh...
Seeing Shida and her friends seems to be having a laugh, Yamada came in and greeted them.
"hey minna..." he said with a big smile on his face.
All girls greeted Yamada together as if they're singing. "hi!!"
However, Shida just sat still on his chair quietly with her blushed face slightly hidden by her hair.
"Mirai-chan?"
"GO AWAY!!" Shida suddenly stood up, shouted at Yamada and walked away from the room.
"ehhh?? What's wrong with her?"
All of Shida's friends just laughed at him after seeing Shida blushed and walk away after seeing him.
"it's nothing Yamada-kun... I think she's just embarrassed after seeing you..." one girl said.
"yeah... She's just having a hard time thinking about her feelings." the other one laughed explaining the state of Shida.
"awww... Bless her..." all the girls chorused leaving Yamada confused.

*a few days later...*
During the break of their class, Yamada thought of something to pass time and save himself from his boredom... He pulled out a picture from a pocket of his bag and smiled. He looked at the photo taken from his and Shida's unexpected "date" and stared at it with a silly smile on his face...
"awww... Isn't that sweet?"
Yamada heard four familiar voices over his shoulder.
It was Keito, Chinen, Ryutaro and Yuto.
"sugoi Yama-chan. I didn't think you'll actually have a chance with Shida-san" Yuto teased.
"you look like a real couple in this picture..."
"yeah... I'm officially impressed. I want to be your apprentice!" Ryutaro and the others continued the compliment.
"I think I'm falling in love with her." Yamada said still looking at the photo.
"ehhh?? Is that you Yama-chan?" Chinen said looking at the love-struck face of Yamada.
"what happen to the 10,000 yen bet? If you fell in love with her, that's off right?" Yuto said.
"yeah... It's only fair. You got her already and I don't want to pay you 10,000 yen for that stupid bet!" Chinen added.
"but I'm really impressed Yama-chan... You actually got Shida-chan less than a month. You're actually good at betting" Keito complimented.
The four continued to tease Yamada...
"what bet?"
Unexpectedly, Shida came from nowhere and gave out a scary atmosphere in the room.
"Shida-san..." the four gasp quietly as they saw an angry Shida staring sharply at them.
Yamada became speechless unable to protect himself as the whole bet thing has been discovered.
"sorry to eavesdrop... I just got interested to your conversation because apparently, it's about ME!!"
Shida looked coldly at Yamada.
"You actually made a bet with them about getting me within a month?!!!"
After a few quiet moment, Yamada finally opened up...
"please let me explain Mirai-chan..."
"You're a jerk... A big jerk!!"
"and I'm sorry you lost 10,000 yen because of me..." she replied sarcastically...
Without letting Yamada explain, Shida stormed out the room with tearful eyes making the whole room quiet and feel empty.
Yamada just fell in his seat and thought for awhile: "I'm a jerk!!! A total jerk!!!"
After that, he rushed out the room and run after Shida.
However, there's no trace of her which left Yamada helplessly looking more depressed and guilty of what he's done.

"poor Yama-chan..." Chinen said with sympathy.
"yeah... He looks terrible. He's been like that a few days already. I hope we can do something to cheer him up." Daiki added.
"Shida-san is not even talking to him... I bet he'll be like that in our rehearsal later... We need to do something..."
The two friends approached Yamada to try to cheer him up.
"Yama-chan, do you want to hang out? We can eat strawberry shortcake till our stomach burst!!" Chinen said cutely to make him at least smile.
However, all Yamada said was: "I'll pass..."
The two became speechless having nothing to say to the depressed Yamada...
Yamada sensed his two friends' silence...
"Thanks for trying to cheer me up guys... But I'm just not in the mood."
"Don't be so depressed Yama-chan... Just try to talk to her. She might forgive you if you apologise sincerely." Daiki gave a great idea to him.
Unexpectedly, Yamada stood up after hearing the idea.
"Dai-chan!!! You're a genius!!"
He then gave them a big hug having gained his energy.
"ahhh... You guys are the best... I love you!!"
"ehhh?? What did we do?"
Yamada rushed out the room leaving the two confused.

Yamada's idea: Go to Shida's house and apologise to her sincerely.
"Flowers... check... outfit.... check.... breath.... check!! yoshh!!! I'm good to go!! She'll start talking to me, that's for sure..." Yamada said trying his best to boost his confidence and dedicated to get Shida's forgiveness.
Yamada went to Shida's house to carry out his plan.
*ding dong...*
"dare?" a woman opened the door to see who's there.
"ehhh?? Yamada-kun ne? what can I do for you" the woman greeted him with a smile.
"Konnichiwa!! is Mirai-san there? I just need to talk to her about something." Yamada said.
"ahhh... you came to see Mirai? Chotto, I'll call her for you."
10 minutes had passed, Yamada is still waiting to see Shida in front of their house practicing what to say to Shida when they meet.
However...
"Gomen Yamada-kun... It seems like she's busy with homework and all. I tried to convince her to atleast greet you but she said NO!" Shida's mom tried to explain to him.
"Please... Just 5 minutes. Please let me see her. I owe her a big apology..... Please tell her I won't leave til she talks to me!!" Yamada said with persistance.
"Okay, I'll tell her... but I won't promise anything. She's not in the mood today. I think she has her period."

1 hour had passed, Yamada is still outside Shida's house waiting for her appearance.
Shida's mom looked at him from inside of the house feeling sympathy.
"Mirai!!! Yamada-kun is still waiting outside to see you! It looks like he'll stay there until you talk to him!" Shida's mom tries to persuade her to atleast talk to Yamada.
"Let him be... I'm sure he'll go when he feels hungry or cold" Shida replied coldly as she peeped outside the window where she can see Yamada still standing.
HOWEVER, Shida's guess was wrong... Almost 4 hours had passed and Yamada stayed outside her house still waiting for her to see him.
"ahhh!!! its COLD in here... I hope she'll realise what I'm doing for her SOON!!" Yamada thought; shivering.
Yamada's punishment isn't done yet. As he thought nothing's gonna make it worse, he felt water dripping over his head and next thing he knew, he was soaking. Despite being wet because of the rain, he continously waited patiently for Shida.
"ACHHOOOOO!!! Even GOD hates me!!!"

"ahhhh... its raining" Mrs. Shida said... "I think Yamada-kun is gone as well... I can't see him outside anymore"
"see... I told you he won't last..." Shida replied quietly to her mom.
"tskkk... You're worried aren't you?" Mrs. Shida said sensing her daughter's silence. "Why don't you check up on him? He might get a cold after waiting for you. If anything happens to him, you only have yourself to blame." she told Shida making her guilty and as if she's her concience.
After thinking about what her mother said, Shida immediately grabbed her umbrella and ran towards their front door to see if Yamada is still waiting.
"There's no way he'll still be here..." she said and convincing herself not to worry.
Shida looked around but there's no trace of Yamada. "phew... yokatta!!" she said with relief.
However, after turning around, he saw a figure on the pillar of their front door. IT WAS YAMADA!!!
She saw Yamada standing still and shivering with a bouquet of flower on his left hand.
Shida can't believe what she's seeing and only "You're still here?" are the only words she manged to come out of her mouth.
"BAKA!!!!!! Are you stupid?" Shida approached Yamada quickly and held the umbrella over his head...
"Shida-chan... you finally came out!!! here.. this is for you" Yamada handed the bouquet of flowers to Shida still trembling from the cold.
"You're soaking!!! I can't believe you waited here for 5 hours... Let's go inside, you'll catch a cold in here!!" Shida said with a very worried tone of voice.
As she attempt to go inside their house, Yamada suddenly grabbed her arm and looked at her straight in the eyes...
"Its worth waiting for you... Now, I realised this is my punishment!!! Gomen..."
The word "SORRY" is the last word Yamada can remember saying to Shida.
After saying his apology, he suddenly collapsed having soaked in the rain for a few hours.

"his temperature rose up to 39 degrees... this is not good" her mom said making Shida more worried than ever.
"This is all my fault!!! ahhhhh!!!!"
As she looked at Yamada still unconscious, she held his hand and said: "Please be okay..."
Shida just felt tears running down her cheeks while she still hold Yamada's hand.
Yamada might've felt Shida's tears in his hand as he looked down his bed and saw a weeping Shida.
"I knew you liked me..." he said playfully.
Shida suddenly looked up and dried her tears. "You're awake!!"
"Yeah... sorry if I made you worry..."
"BAKA!!! I'm not even worried..."
"Then why are you crying?"
"ehhhh?? anou..."
Without letting Shida finish her explanation, he unexpectedly kissed her forehead...
"I love you!!!... I realised any bet is not worth it if its you I'm risking."
This comment made Shida blushed and made her turned away from Yamada.
"You still betted me right? Do you think I'll easily forgive you because of what you've said? hah!!"
After a few short silence, Yamada finally opened up...
"ehhh??? You made me wait for 5 hours and made my temperature rise up to 39 degrees!!! Don't you think we're even?" Yamada said trying to make Shida guilty.
"What?? I didn't tell you to stupidly wait for me outside my house did I? It's just you being STUPID!!" Shida immediately turned around facing him and replied to his comment.
"I won't even do that if I'm not in love with you!!! And since I am, can't you just please forgive me and move on??"
What Yamada said created an awkward silence between the two... And then........
After hearing those sweet words, Shida suddenly kissed his forehead and smiled...
"NOW we're actually EVEN!!"

Yamada Ryosuke. 17 years old. Current member of Hey! Say! Jump. One of the most popular j-pop group in japan. Being famous and all, he's a happy go lucky boy that think everything goes the way he want it. However, he's a real heartthrob making all girls fall in love with him. Except for one... A girl called Shida Mirai.

"woahhh... She's pretty..." Yamada told Daiki losing his whole concentration just looking on one girl.
"ahhh... I know. But you better look for someone else Yama-chan... I heard she's a tough one. Ne Keito?" Daiki turned to Keito who's sitting next to him.
Keito replied with a dedicated nod. "I heard someone confessed to her but she turned him down badly!! As in badly... She'll be quite a challenge."
"ehhh?? where are you hearing this stuff? She's still just a girl." Yamada disapproved with the comments and reassured himself that he can get any girl he wants.
"well I heard she's quite popular with the boys." Daiki answered.
"Hai... Shida Mirai. I heard she's transferring to our school tomorrow. In her previous school, a total of 4 boys confessed to her on her first day but she turned them all down. Since then, boys are afraid of her. Sugoi ne?" Chinen joined their conversation with some amazing facts about Shida.
"really?? Sugoi!!" one of the members complemented.
Without Yamada realising, he just found all the JUMP members eavesdropping in their conversation.
"ehhh?? Seems like all of you are interested in her huh?!" Yamada quite surprised seeing all the members talking about the same girl. This triggered a sense of challenge to him.
"yosh!! I bet I can make her my girlfriend within a month." Yamada said with confidence.
"nani?? A month?? Impossible..." Yabu answered with a frown on his face.
"I'm serious!! Just give me a month" Yamada answered convincing all the members to support him.
The members just gave a big "sigh..." to Yamada giving the impression that he's indeed talking nonsense.
"where are you getting all your confidence from? You can't get all the girl you want, you know." Hikaru tried to lessen Yamada's self confidence.
"wait wait!! I told you... Just give me a month!! I bet I can make her fall in love with me." he replied still full of confidence.
"You're really persistent huh? Alright then, how much do you bet?" Yabu said playfully.
"how about a 10,000 yen?"
"what?? Hah! Are you serious? You don't have chance with her I tell you" Another member disapproves with him.
"Try me. If you guys win, I'll treat all of you dinner worth 10,000 yen. But If I win, you guys will pay me 10,000 yen."
All the members just laughed with his confidence but agreed with him playfully not knowing Yamada is actually serious about the bet...
"yosh!! I'll show you what I'm capable of. Hah!"

*next day...*
"Ohayo!!" Chinen greeted everyone with a great smile then immediately came up to Yamada and whispered: "yama-chan, I heard Mirai-San is coming to our class today."
Yamada suddenly stood up as Chinen broke his sleepiness.
"really? Yatta!!"
*school bell*
"minna please take your seats... I want you to meet the new transfer student... Mirai-San please come in." the teacher allowed Shida in to meet everyone.
"hajimemashite... Shida Mirai desu... Yoroshiku.." she introduced herself formally and turned to the teacher.
"Mirai-chan will be in our class starting from today. I hope you all get along well with her." the teacher smiled to her students still staring at Shida.
"minna, do you have any questions for her?" the teacher asked before letting Shida know where to sit.
"hai hai!!! Are you good at sports Mirai-San? You should join our club after school." one classmate asked being friendly with Shida.
"I'm not really good at sports but I'll try." Shida answered with a half smile.
"kawaii!!" the boys sighed quietly after seeing the cute girl smile.
After that, bunch of questions were asked after another, over flowing the class discussion only asking about her hobbies.
Finally, hearing all the noise, Yamada stood up putting his hand in the air... "hai... I have a question..."
Everyone suddenly became quiet because of the sudden words from Yamada.
"Are you free after school? I'll be honoured to show you around school." Yamada said with a playful smirk on his face.
All the girls looked at him with admiration yet the JUMP members just laughed at him then looked at Shida's reaction.
Instead, Shida just looked to the teacher and said: "sensei, where should I sit? I think I had enough questions today."
Yamada froze by her cold comment as she watch Shida take a seat near the window where the teacher asked her to sit.
"Yamada-kun, please take a seat and we'll start the lesson." the teacher requested.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Yamada Ryosuke's epic fail!!" Yuto teased him quietly not letting the teacher hear.
The other members sniggered and said: "1-0... Woahhh... She's winning!!"
"shahhh!!" Yamada ran out of words after what happen. "I never lose.." he thought.

Shida's first day of school almost comes to an end but Yamada seems to not let the day end without making his move.
"hey... You seem to get along with everyone. I'm Yamada Ryosuke by the way." Yamada reached out his hand asking for Shida's friendly handshake.
Shida shook his hand and said: "You're the cocky boy earlier. Nice to meet you." Shida gave off a fake smile that is easily noticed by Yamada.
"ehh?! What do you have against me? I'm just being friendly, you know." he replied while she walked away from him.
Shida suddenly turned back to him to answer his question... "I don't have anything against you. I just don't like boys generally."
As she walked away again, Yamada answered with a annoyed expression and even without thinking, he insensitively said: "Are you on your period or something? I haven't seen a girl treat me that way unless they have their monthly thing..."
As he said that quite loudly, all the people in the corridor looked at Shida and some laughed.
Being insulted, Shida grumpily came up to him... "what??!!! I... I told you I just don't like boys. That's it. Is that not enough for you??!" she said with a high pitched voice... "and I don't have my period today!!"
Yamada, not knowing when to stop, continued the argument with a even disturbing comment for Shida. "if you don't have your period, then you must be a lesbian."
Shida gave off a shocked face and looked Yamada with a sharp stare. "I hate you..."
Having watched all of this, all the Jump members just looked at Yamada thinking: "you're dead man!!"
Not contented leaving insulted like that, Shida got her revenge by stepping on Yamada's foot which made him scream painfully.
"you're a total jerk!!" she whispered to his ear.
Leaving Yamada in a painful state, Yuto and Chinen approached him first then the other members followed. "man, you got beaten up by a girl... Tsk tsk... I think you've met your match."
"I'll get her for this..." he said still holding his hurt foot.

2 days had passed since Yamada's first move on Shida which obviously failed. Shida and Yamada didn't talk to each other since then and occasionally looked at each other with blank expression.
"what happen to you Yama-chan? I thought you've got it under control? It's been 2 days and nothing's still happening between you two." Chinen teased him with a cheeky expression.
Yamada didn't answer. Instead, he turned around facing the window beside him.
"Maybe he gave up?! I knew it..." Daiki continued.
Looking at the depressed Yamada, one by one, the members touched him by the shoulder with sympathy. "cheer up... There's other fish in the sea."

"Ohayo minna!! Please take your seats so we can start" the teacher in charge instructed the class.
"I want to tell you about our next topic in psychology. It's about self reports. By this, I'll assign each of you with a partner then you'll go around town to gather participants to do your questionnaire. Naturally, as part of your assessment, you need to make the questionnaire yourself as a pair."
Hearing this, the whole of the class moaned not being bothered about the task set by the teacher.
"In this hat, you'll pick out a number. Anyone who get the same number will be partners in this task." the teacher continued ignoring all the moaning she heard from the class.
"douzo..." she made everyone pick their number and allowed them to find their partners respectively.
Meanwhile, Yamada still heavily sitting in his chair took the piece of paper and read it out to the class "I got number 4!! Please come to me my beloved partner..."
Suddenly and unexpectedly, someone pushed Shida in front of him. "she got number 4 Yamada-kun"
"ehhh?? Uso..." Yamada immediately stood up from his chair having looked who his partner was.
"hai... I'll be your partner. Unfortunately..." Shida whispered.
"yoroshiku..." Yamada replied with a bashful smile not knowing what will happen working with a girl who practically hates him.
"yosh... Minna, you can now discuss what type of questionnaire you're gonna make with your partner. You can also choose when and where to collect people to do your questionnaire."
"okay, let's get this over with. We can conduct a questionnaire about what people usually buy at super markets and see which shops are really popular to them..." Shida explained her whole idea but all Ryosuke did was watch her open her mouth and be captivated by the concentrated Shida.
"oyyy... Are you listening to me?!"
"huh?! Yeah.. I totally agree..." Yamada just replied with affirmation without even knowing what she's talking about.
"tsk tsk... I'll do the questionnaire now. Just photocopy them later."
*the very next day...*
Shida and Yamada went to the local super market together to do their task...
"all we have to do is ask people to answer this then we can go back to school" Shida still talked coldly to Yamada not forgetting the humiliation he brought to her the other day.
The two did their best to distribute the questionnaires and acquired all the results they want after seeing people who are cooperative enough to answer their questionnaires and some people who just basically ignored them.

"yosh... Our job is done... It's quite tiring ne? Shida-san?" Yamada said with a friendly tone.
"we better go back. I'm tired!!" Shida recommended.
However, a middle aged woman wearing a maid cafe costume approached them...
"congratulations!! You have been selected to be our couple of the day!!" the lady said sweetly.
"ehhhh???" Shida said shaking her head.
"we are offering 2 free food vouchers to our coffee shop to the chosen couple. Just answer one question and you'll get the free vouchers."
Unexpectedly, after hearing the words "free food vouchers", Yamada put his arm around Shida's shoulder
"okay, it's free right? What's the question?"
Hearing this, Shida whispered to him: "what are you doing?"
"it's free. We might as well take advantage of it.." he whispered back.
Shida frowned at him and hit him on the stomach with her elbow.
"ITAI!!!" he said softly.
"ohh, are you alright honey? I'm just being carried away by all this. I'm sorry babe." Shida said having decided to get along with Yamada's plan on taking advantage for the free vouchers.
"awww... You guys are so sweet" the lady said with a smile.
"okay, here's the question... What is the favourite food of your partner?..."
Without even making the lady finish the instructions, the two replied in perfect sync.
"strawberry shortcake..." the two echoed with each other's voices.
The lady, being amazed, became quite speechless and said:
"woahh... Sugoi!! You two are perfect for each other."
Without even knowing, Shida's face turned red.
"douzo... Please allow me to guide you to our cafe." the lady said while handing them 2 pink vouchers.
The lady then led the way and walked in front of them.
"how did you know my favourite food?" Yamada asked.
"well, I saw the bakery stall next to that shop and I saw the strawberry shortcake on offer. That's why I feel like eating it. I have no idea that's your favourite food." Shida giggled with her reply being amused by the coincident.
"ehhh?? Sugoi!!..." Yamada just looked at her as he see her smile.
"you know what, you don't look that scary when you smile. It's quite cute actually." Yamada continued.
Shida suddenly frowned on him...
"shut up!!"
Soon enough, they arrived the shop and found a whole bunch of ladies wearing maid uniform just like the one earlier.
"what would you like in our menu?" another lady wearing a maid costume approached them.
"I'll have strawberry shortcake please..." Yamada said with a smile looking at Shida.
"I'll have the same please."
"certainly..." the waitress passed the piece of paper to her colleague and offered the couple with another surprise.
"while you're waiting, we want to take a photo of you two as a remembrance... Please strike a pose."
Without knowing what to do, Shida just shook her head insisting she's against the idea. However, Yamada put his arm around her and smiled. The next thing Shida know is that she's already holding the developed photo in her hand with a heart frame on it.
She can see Yamada looking at the photo with a naive look on his face.
"Baka!!! You're so easy to please." she thought yet also thinking how naively cute Yamada is sitting opposite her.
After eating their honourable strawberry shortcake, the couple left the shop with satisfied smiles on their faces.
"I enjoyed that Shida-san. Because of you... Thanks..." Yamada said with the most charming smile ever.
Shida suddenly blushed and looked away. "Baka! It's just the strawberry shortcake that made it special Yama-chan."
"I guess I need to go now. I still have chores to do at home." she added.
As she attempted to go, Yamada stopped her by grabbing her arm unexpectedly. "Chotto... What did you just call me?? You called me Yama-chan?"
Shida remained silent. Then said: "shut up..."
Yamada giggled and replied: " I guess you like me a little bit now ne?"

*the next day*
"Ohayo Shida-chan..." Yamada greeted Shida cheerfully as he travel across her front desk.
"Ohayo Yama-chan" she replied quietly only Yamada can hear.
Yamada smiled at her making her face quite red.
Suddenly, he pulled out a small envelope from his bag and gave it to Shida.
"nani kore?"
"since you like me a bit, I'll give you this!"
Shida opened the envelope slowly and found a picture inside. It was the picture of them together in the cafe taken by one of the waitress.
Shida's face became even redder.
"kawaii Shida-chan... You're actually blushing!! That's the second sign you're starting to like me..." Yamada teased her with a cheeky smirk in his face.
"shut up Yama-chan!! Don't flatter yourself! I'm not blushing!!" Shida shouted unexpectedly allowing people in the room hear.
All the people in the classroom looked at Shida.
Being so embarrassed, all Shida can do is bow her head and sit quietly on her chair.
Yamada gave off a big laugh and saved Shida from the humiliation.
"gomen minna... Shida-chan and I are practising a scene in my new drama. She just got over board."
Everyone in the room started to accept Yamada's excuse about Shida's outburst...
Ryosuke then turned to Mirai and said:
"your welcome ojousama..." Yamada whispered silently to Shida's ear.
"hazukashi!!!" Shida said to herself.

"here..." Shida gave Yamada a small box.
"what's this? It's not my birthday..."
"you saved me yesterday right?" Shida said still thinking about what Yamada did for her to save her from the humiliation.
Yamada opened the box and found a cute strawberry shortcake. "kawaii!!! It's for me?"
He smiled with excitement as he look at the cake.
"thank you!!" he suddenly gave Shida a big hug showing how much he appreciate the gift.
Without saying anything, Shida go to her seat thinking: "what is wrong with me? I feel so weird!!"
She looked again to Yamada and found a very cute boy eating a strawberry shortcake happily with a big smile. Shida just found herself smiling at the scene.

"is this love??" one classmate of Shida teased her playfully.
"ehhh?? Well, you seem to be liking him more now Mirai-chan... It's Yamada-kun anyway, everyone likes him." another continued the teasing.
"there's no way I'm gonna fall in love with him!! Geez..." Shida replied with annoyance disagreeing with the comments her friends made.
"okay, anything you say!! But don't be afraid to admit it ne?" they said with a laugh...
Seeing Shida and her friends seems to be having a laugh, Yamada came in and greeted them.
"hey minna..." he said with a big smile on his face.
All girls greeted Yamada together as if they're singing. "hi!!"
However, Shida just sat still on his chair quietly with her blushed face slightly hidden by her hair.
"Mirai-chan?"
"GO AWAY!!" Shida suddenly stood up, shouted at Yamada and walked away from the room.
"ehhh?? What's wrong with her?"
All of Shida's friends just laughed at him after seeing Shida blushed and walk away after seeing him.
"it's nothing Yamada-kun... I think she's just embarrassed after seeing you..." one girl said.
"yeah... She's just having a hard time thinking about her feelings." the other one laughed explaining the state of Shida.
"awww... Bless her..." all the girls chorused leaving Yamada confused.

*a few days later...*
During the break of their class, Yamada thought of something to pass time and save himself from his boredom... He pulled out a picture from a pocket of his bag and smiled. He looked at the photo taken from his and Shida's unexpected "date" and stared at it with a silly smile on his face...
"awww... Isn't that sweet?"
Yamada heard four familiar voices over his shoulder.
It was Keito, Chinen, Ryutaro and Yuto.
"sugoi Yama-chan. I didn't think you'll actually have a chance with Shida-san" Yuto teased.
"you look like a real couple in this picture..."
"yeah... I'm officially impressed. I want to be your apprentice!" Ryutaro and the others continued the compliment.
"I think I'm falling in love with her." Yamada said still looking at the photo.
"ehhh?? Is that you Yama-chan?" Chinen said looking at the love-struck face of Yamada.
"what happen to the 10,000 yen bet? If you fell in love with her, that's off right?" Yuto said.
"yeah... It's only fair. You got her already and I don't want to pay you 10,000 yen for that stupid bet!" Chinen added.
"but I'm really impressed Yama-chan... You actually got Shida-chan less than a month. You're actually good at betting" Keito complimented.
The four continued to tease Yamada...
"what bet?"
Unexpectedly, Shida came from nowhere and gave out a scary atmosphere in the room.
"Shida-san..." the four gasp quietly as they saw an angry Shida staring sharply at them.
Yamada became speechless unable to protect himself as the whole bet thing has been discovered.
"sorry to eavesdrop... I just got interested to your conversation because apparently, it's about ME!!"
Shida looked coldly at Yamada.
"You actually made a bet with them about getting me within a month?!!!"
After a few quiet moment, Yamada finally opened up...
"please let me explain Mirai-chan..."
"You're a jerk... A big jerk!!"
"and I'm sorry you lost 10,000 yen because of me..." she replied sarcastically...
Without letting Yamada explain, Shida stormed out the room with tearful eyes making the whole room quiet and feel empty.
Yamada just fell in his seat and thought for awhile: "I'm a jerk!!! A total jerk!!!"
After that, he rushed out the room and run after Shida.
However, there's no trace of her which left Yamada helplessly looking more depressed and guilty of what he's done.

"poor Yama-chan..." Chinen said with sympathy.
"yeah... He looks terrible. He's been like that a few days already. I hope we can do something to cheer him up." Daiki added.
"Shida-san is not even talking to him... I bet he'll be like that in our rehearsal later... We need to do something..."
The two friends approached Yamada to try to cheer him up.
"Yama-chan, do you want to hang out? We can eat strawberry shortcake till our stomach burst!!" Chinen said cutely to make him at least smile.
However, all Yamada said was: "I'll pass..."
The two became speechless having nothing to say to the depressed Yamada...
Yamada sensed his two friends' silence...
"Thanks for trying to cheer me up guys... But I'm just not in the mood."
"Don't be so depressed Yama-chan... Just try to talk to her. She might forgive you if you apologise sincerely." Daiki gave a great idea to him.
Unexpectedly, Yamada stood up after hearing the idea.
"Dai-chan!!! You're a genius!!"
He then gave them a big hug having gained his energy.
"ahhh... You guys are the best... I love you!!"
"ehhh?? What did we do?"
Yamada rushed out the room leaving the two confused.

Yamada's idea: Go to Shida's house and apologise to her sincerely.
"Flowers... check... outfit.... check.... breath.... check!! yoshh!!! I'm good to go!! She'll start talking to me, that's for sure..." Yamada said trying his best to boost his confidence and dedicated to get Shida's forgiveness.
Yamada went to Shida's house to carry out his plan.
*ding dong...*
"dare?" a woman opened the door to see who's there.
"ehhh?? Yamada-kun ne? what can I do for you" the woman greeted him with a smile.
"Konnichiwa!! is Mirai-san there? I just need to talk to her about something." Yamada said.
"ahhh... you came to see Mirai? Chotto, I'll call her for you."
10 minutes had passed, Yamada is still waiting to see Shida in front of their house practicing what to say to Shida when they meet.
However...
"Gomen Yamada-kun... It seems like she's busy with homework and all. I tried to convince her to atleast greet you but she said NO!" Shida's mom tried to explain to him.
"Please... Just 5 minutes. Please let me see her. I owe her a big apology..... Please tell her I won't leave til she talks to me!!" Yamada said with persistance.
"Okay, I'll tell her... but I won't promise anything. She's not in the mood today. I think she has her period."

1 hour had passed, Yamada is still outside Shida's house waiting for her appearance.
Shida's mom looked at him from inside of the house feeling sympathy.
"Mirai!!! Yamada-kun is still waiting outside to see you! It looks like he'll stay there until you talk to him!" Shida's mom tries to persuade her to atleast talk to Yamada.
"Let him be... I'm sure he'll go when he feels hungry or cold" Shida replied coldly as she peeped outside the window where she can see Yamada still standing.
HOWEVER, Shida's guess was wrong... Almost 4 hours had passed and Yamada stayed outside her house still waiting for her to see him.
"ahhh!!! its COLD in here... I hope she'll realise what I'm doing for her SOON!!" Yamada thought; shivering.
Yamada's punishment isn't done yet. As he thought nothing's gonna make it worse, he felt water dripping over his head and next thing he knew, he was soaking. Despite being wet because of the rain, he continously waited patiently for Shida.
"ACHHOOOOO!!! Even GOD hates me!!!"

"ahhhh... its raining" Mrs. Shida said... "I think Yamada-kun is gone as well... I can't see him outside anymore"
"see... I told you he won't last..." Shida replied quietly to her mom.
"tskkk... You're worried aren't you?" Mrs. Shida said sensing her daughter's silence. "Why don't you check up on him? He might get a cold after waiting for you. If anything happens to him, you only have yourself to blame." she told Shida making her guilty and as if she's her concience.
After thinking about what her mother said, Shida immediately grabbed her umbrella and ran towards their front door to see if Yamada is still waiting.
"There's no way he'll still be here..." she said and convincing herself not to worry.
Shida looked around but there's no trace of Yamada. "phew... yokatta!!" she said with relief.
However, after turning around, he saw a figure on the pillar of their front door. IT WAS YAMADA!!!
She saw Yamada standing still and shivering with a bouquet of flower on his left hand.
Shida can't believe what she's seeing and only "You're still here?" are the only words she manged to come out of her mouth.
"BAKA!!!!!! Are you stupid?" Shida approached Yamada quickly and held the umbrella over his head...
"Shida-chan... you finally came out!!! here.. this is for you" Yamada handed the bouquet of flowers to Shida still trembling from the cold.
"You're soaking!!! I can't believe you waited here for 5 hours... Let's go inside, you'll catch a cold in here!!" Shida said with a very worried tone of voice.
As she attempt to go inside their house, Yamada suddenly grabbed her arm and looked at her straight in the eyes...
"Its worth waiting for you... Now, I realised this is my punishment!!! Gomen..."
The word "SORRY" is the last word Yamada can remember saying to Shida.
After saying his apology, he suddenly collapsed having soaked in the rain for a few hours.

"his temperature rose up to 39 degrees... this is not good" her mom said making Shida more worried than ever.
"This is all my fault!!! ahhhhh!!!!"
As she looked at Yamada still unconscious, she held his hand and said: "Please be okay..."
Shida just felt tears running down her cheeks while she still hold Yamada's hand.
Yamada might've felt Shida's tears in his hand as he looked down his bed and saw a weeping Shida.
"I knew you liked me..." he said playfully.
Shida suddenly looked up and dried her tears. "You're awake!!"
"Yeah... sorry if I made you worry..."
"BAKA!!! I'm not even worried..."
"Then why are you crying?"
"ehhhh?? anou..."
Without letting Shida finish her explanation, he unexpectedly kissed her forehead...
"I love you!!!... I realised any bet is not worth it if its you I'm risking."
This comment made Shida blushed and made her turned away from Yamada.
"You still betted me right? Do you think I'll easily forgive you because of what you've said? hah!!"
After a few short silence, Yamada finally opened up...
"ehhh??? You made me wait for 5 hours and made my temperature rise up to 39 degrees!!! Don't you think we're even?" Yamada said trying to make Shida guilty.
"What?? I didn't tell you to stupidly wait for me outside my house did I? It's just you being STUPID!!" Shida immediately turned around facing him and replied to his comment.
"I won't even do that if I'm not in love with you!!! And since I am, can't you just please forgive me and move on??"
What Yamada said created an awkward silence between the two... And then........
After hearing those sweet words, Shida suddenly kissed his forehead and smiled...
"NOW we're actually EVEN!!"
