It wasn't exactly a secret what was going on between Nymphadora and Remus. So when Severus decided he'd spent enough time exchanging small talk with Arthur and Molly Weasley, he decided to leave, and wasn't very surprised to see an upset looking Nymphadora on his way out. He decided to stick around a couple minutes longer, perhaps through a bit of banter back and forth as entertainment before he took his leave.
He sat down across from her, crossed his legs, and folded his hands on his lap.
"So, Nymphadora," he began, just loud enough for her to hear him. "What'd the dog do this time, hm?"
Tonks pushed herself up, glaring across the table at Snape. Didn't he have something better to do than to harass her? Of course not...he had absolutely no life.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Severus. Shouldn't you be off enlightening young mind's or something?"
Severus looked impressed. That was the most polite she had ever been to him.
"It's Saturday. And I generally don't schedule any detentions when I know there's an Order meeting. I don't like having to rush back. Mingling can be entertaining at times, don't you think?"
She might be ass at just about everything, but she had dignity. She was not going to sit there and let someone else see her feeling sorry for herself. That was not the kind of girl that she was.
"I don't think I've ever seen you...'mingle'? Really? A five-year old could come up with something better than that."
"Why do you think I stick around after meetings? Just because you still perceive me as a Professor who, in your opinion, hates his students and everyone else- that doesn't mean I don't sometimes enjoy exchanging pleasantries, Nymphadora. However, if you'd prefer I take my leave, I will."
She rolled her eyes. "I figured it was to harass people, like Sirius or Remus." Whom he loved to taunt. She'd never actually seen him behave like a decent human being and she had a hard time believing that it was, in fact, possible.
"I'm bored with Sirius, and Remus and I actually get along well, most of the time. However he's been having so many mood swings lately there's nothing left to do but 'taunt', as you put it. He's withering away and he doesn't even care to keep up mentally. Nobody could get an intelligent conversation out of that man if it were a life or death situation."
Severus shrugged. What was the point in bothering with Remus anymore? As Nymphadora knew, he simply wouldn't comply lately, with anything.
"I make his potions every month, I understand how much it puts him through, I do." Not to mention how much the potions themselves put Severus through. They were a complete pain in the arse. "But there are some things he can control in his life. Don't get hung up on him, Nymphadora. He's a daft fuck sometimes. Regardless of all that, I do admit I miss having a worthy opponent in Chess."
He sat down across from her, crossed his legs, and folded his hands on his lap.

Dumbledore?
But still...
"I didn't know you did that for him. Thank you, he needs it."
She sighed. It was too late to get hung up on him, she was far past it.
"Was he always like this?"
