Wish me luck. I applied for a part-time radiology attendant position at a nearby hospital. It'll be a foot in the door in radiology. Also, writing up my cover letter, I realized I already had a fair amount of experience relevant to the position thanks to my responsibilities with my grandfather. The fact that it pays more ($8.79 per hour) and leaves me eligible for benefits doesn't hurt either.
There's three weeks full time training, which means, if I get the job, I'll have to work something out with my current employers. I don't want to drop them in the grease, so I figure I can cut back hours and work from home more for the two weeks' notice. Or until they're in a position to hire someone else. I don't feel too bad about it, for reasons outlined in my previous post.
Guys! This is my first official step toward becoming a radiotherapy technologist (or nuclear medicine technologist). It's happening!
On a completely unrelated note, I recently found out that I could get a very good top surgery for about $7,500, which is far less than I expected it to cost. I also found out that no, you don't have to be transgender to get top surgery; you can still get it if you're genderqueer. I admit, this is pretty far out in my future at this point, but the fact that it's possible is exciting. This is something I've wanted for years and years and never thought was even within the realm of possibility.
Everything seems to be coming together.
