It's only January? Wtf.

Well, my January has been interesting, to say the least. Where to start...

I flew up to Schenectady and Rogers and I drove to Connecticut to go to Steve's annual New Year's Eve party. It was probably the most fun New Year's I've had, including Vegas. It was extremely chill. We hung out drinking and playing foosball and eating delicious food. We had a weekend-long beer pong tournament and we watched college football all day on the 1st. Rogers and I were sad to leave, but we were invited to the annual 4th of July celebration in Boston so hopefully we can make it! My visit in NY was pretty fun, but uneventful other than that. We saw Sherlock Holmes and Rogers gave me my Christmas presents. I got a beautiful gold Claddagh ring that he actually ordered from the store in Galway we tried to go to, but was closed on our last day in town. I lovelovelove it.

After I got back from NY, I had to take the Praxis II, my last standardized test before student teaching. It went pretty well, despite the fact that I didn't know the difference between a community and an ecosystem or the specifics of the Electoral College. Classes started a few days later. They are going okay so far. One of my teachers "doesn't believe in grades" so that's pretty sweet! I have to write my "thesis" this semester though, and I can't decide on a topic.

One of my New Year's resolutions was to lose weight. I started a diet on the 1st and so far I've lost 8 pounds. My goal was 10, by the end of February when Rogers and I are going to the British Virgin Islands with his family for a week and I have to look non-grotesque in a swimsuit. I think I'm upping it to 15 now. We'll see if I actually make it. I can't believe I haven't had cereal, ice cream, or orange juice in a month!

So, I decided to move back in with my parents. I figured that wasn't what I signed up for, and if I wanted to live with a family, I could live with my own since they don't have a 5-year-old princess and it's free. It's real nice to have extra money and be able to play with Tato whenever I want, but the commute is not fun. Oh well, it's only for 11 more months til I graduate and move up to Schenectady.

...Which I'm pretty nervous about now. We just had a minor snowstorm this weekend - just about 5-6 inches. Well last night Rogers was driving us home from a party at Liz's in my car and we crashed getting onto 66. We slid a bunch and hit a guard rail head-on. I'm going to try to take my car in to the shop tomorrow to see if anything except the bumper is messed up, but I'm hoping the scratches and bent up license plate is the only real damage. It just makes me so nervous about having to drive in Schenectady, where it snows almost every day between October and March. I'll definitely be getting a new car, maybe a Volvo or a bigger truck with 4-wheel drive of course, but I've almost died twice in the past 2 months because of snow and it doesn't make me very confident.

There's been a new development in the whole moving in together/future plans plot. This weekend, Rogers and I continued our discussion we started back in October. Basically he said he's not really scared of marriage anymore and he's more looking forward to it. It's not a ring, but I'll take it! We had a big long talk about our wedding and who we'll invite (and "forget" to invite). I was so surprised he actually HAD been thinking about it when I asked him to think about it! Props to him, maybe I don't give him enough credit.

Oh, my phone also half-broke this month. The screen got cracked so it still works, but a small section is permanently white and half of the screen has horizontal white bars obscuring any text. WTF January?
