Wow- I feel very relieved right now- I was trying to write the grant that I have to write for quals (that may turn into my dissertation), and I thought I may have been 'barking up the wrong tree' with what I was proposing to look at because 1. I thought there was a logical flaw in my thinking that would be difficult to overcome and 2. I found a couple of articles written in the 1970's and I couldn't find anything else (and the results in the articles were ambiguous so I couldn't really use them- researchers in the 70's could get away with a lot more than we can), so I thought I was screwed and would have to start over (that would go over well). I had declared the 'research stage' (looking up articles) of the grant over and was trying to write something that I wasn't entirely sure of. I decided last night to be patient and look up more articles today and I found a pocket of research I hadn't found before- and it agrees with what I was thinking (there's really no point in looking at something with infants if there isn't any adult research on it unless it's something specific to infancy). Now I have a lot more articles to read, but I'm excited about the studies I'm proposing again.
Also- The Office finale was the best of all the finales I watched in the last two weeks (and I watched a few). It was almost perfect. The show is frikkin brilliant. Comedy shows don't usually have season-long character arcs that pay off in the end and make you proud of the characters- The Office did- go Pam is all I gotta say.
