I finally figured out how to beat the boss! I forget Link had a shield.XD;
and I finally got started on some side quests to gain some much needed items.
This game has a new "choose your response" system that doesn't really have an impact on the outcome. Link has the option to be a real jackass, but I notice that if I choose the polite/thoughtful/kind/nice response, Link makes faster progress. The mean/smartass responses that bring up a dead end can be "undone" by just talking to the NPC again and choosing the nice response. of course, there are instances where Link HAS to be a juvenile delinquent in order to unlock a quest chain.
Some stuff I didn't note before:
There IS parkour, of sorts. Link can run up walls for a short distance and get over obstacles as high as himself (and Link is a bit on the short sideX3) if the wall is too high for him to grab the edge and pull himself up, he'll slide back down.
Link can recharge his hearts by sitting down but only on things the game deems sittable. that means chairs, benches and certain convenient logs. Beds, however, are only sleepable.
There is no automatic diurnal cycle like there was in Twilight Princess, Link has to go to sleep till evening if there is stuff he has to do at night, and once it's nighttime the only way to bring the morning is for Link to sleep till the AM. Also, Link can sleep anywhere there's a bed. which leads to some awkward-looking situationsXD Presumably the good people of Skyloft are used to random young men - or at least Link - flopping down on their beds for a long nap.
...well, the dorm is so bloody far away from everything!:P I try to make sure Link only sleeps in safe houses i.e. not the Item Check chick's house.
There's a weird feeling about doing these quests, sleeping etc while Zelda's still out there. yet it's evident that she's more than capable of taking care of herself. Unlike Link.=.=;
Of course the more things change,
the more they stay the same. The Force Gems from Spirit Tracks are back, this time as Gratitude Crystals, which Link must collect for a very nice monster who lives under the graveyard.
Yes. There is a scary-looking monster with fangs, horns, and sharp claws, who is very polite and nice and just wants to be friends with everyone in Skyloft. It is the cutest thing. I just really want to help him! I hope he gets his wish!
And, good news! Item carrying capacity IS expandable! I don't know by how much more though, as Link can't afford to buy the Adventure Pouch yet and so I'm not sure if Beedle will have another one or if it will become sold out after Link buys it. However, items are not all mixed up with equipment, so it's not filling up as fast as I thought. Link can avoid Item Check for a while longer.
AND! I finally learned how to fly! I just have to point the Wiimote up and flap it forward.XD;
