GOOD FOR YOU! recordedthought July 27 2004, 08:58:51 UTC
there's no better satisfaction to me than to know that i've made someone smile. I volunteer at this japanese assisted-living place, which is basically like a convalescent home but the elderly do whatever they want, but need special treatment at all hours of the day. Like if someone is in a wheel chair, they probably need help to take showers, poop, pee, etc (you get the point). I used to go in on Saturdays and we'd do different activities like make our own pots for our rooms or show videos of different countries and call it "Armchair Travel" hahah i presented two(mexico and france) Now, i'm working on wednesdays and playing games with them. It's hilarious bc we play dominoes...and they get pissed if this one lady keeps winning. THEY CRACK ME UP! the 102 year old japanese lady is the funniest. so yea this is long, but im glad you're considering to volunteer. Even if it's one hour a week...for that hour...you could do SOOOOOO much to someone else's life.

and the sermon has ended!
