Yes, I really like Clara! And I am so, so happy that Eleven likes her too and isn't being a jerk to her like I think Ten was to Martha (which, tbh, soured me on Ten). I mean, I think that part of Clara's initial appeal to Eleven was to try to figure out the mystery, but I just get the sense that Eleven is genuinely fond of her, and that makes me happy. And she has just a realistic attitude (or, as realistic as you can get in Doctor Who): she is adventurous, but you can also tell when she is pushing herself to her limits. Like in Hide, when she needed the Doctor to dare her-that was both adorable and just so very Clara.
Oh, and yes, I really liked how they explained Clara, and it was just so important to me that she herself chose to splinter herself along the Doctor's timeline. And it was because she knew all of the good that he could do and because she didn't want to see her friend in pain, and it was just all so lovely. And I really love how she took ownership of the "run you clever boy" tagline. It was a good story for her. Like you, I do wonder what the next bit in her life will be. Although, and per your other post, I do kind of think that we're closer to a regeneration than not, so maybe that will be the focus on series eight....
And I hear you on the fear of cheesy Doctor/companion story lines, but I really think that Moffat won't go there. I mean that was just SO heavily treaded by RTD, and I do think that Moffat tries to avoid revisiting that sort of stuff (although I do admit that Moffat definitely has certain motifs of his own that he likes to explore). So I am just going to enjoy the Clara experience for now and give the Moff the benefit of the doubt!
