I forgot to mention this:
The other day I got a call from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department about my identity theft (see
Dec 10, 2005). I'd given them all the information I was able to obtain and they investigated my case. I never thought anything would come out of it, but last week they called to tell me that they arrested some knucklehead for it. He had a bunch of phones and email addresses in my name and all kinds of crap. Last I heard, he was being charged with 8 counts and will definitely be doing some time. Can you believe it? This happens to millions of people all the time, and it is so rare that anyone ever gets caught. I just hope that's the end of it.
