Zoe Marie was born on Wednesday January 24th, 2007 at 8:50 pm. She weighed in at 7 lbs 13 ounces.
Wednesday morning I called my OB because I was having a hard time breathing, but my contractions were still irregular. She told me to wait a few hours then go on to the hospital to be monitored. Now this was my original due date, making me 40 weeks. So I waited a few hours and went ahead to the hospital. Got checked in and went on the monitors. My contractions were anywehre from 2 to 13 minutes apart and I was still 2 cm dialted. So they told me to walk the halls to get things going. A few hours later the nurse came back in to check and I was still the same. So she decided to call the doctor and we asked if I could be induced. Fortunately doctor said ok and around 4pm doctor came in and broke my water and started me on Pitocin(sp?). Around 5pm my cervix was 4 cm and I asked for an epidural, i shortly recieved it afterwards and was so relaxed, although I was freezing. I went from 4 cm to 8 cm within a matter 2 hours, then from 8 cm to 10 cm within a matter of minutes.
Around 8pm we decided to get ready for the big push, but because I was still feeling the contractions in my back, the anestesiologist(sp?) came back in and gave me another dose of pain medicine. I pushed for about 45 minutes and with the help of suction out came Zoe!
She is 8 days old day and doing great! It is such a blessing to be a mother and all the many changes it brings to life.
