So Um Yeah...

I haven't updated this thing in over a year or so, but I got home last Thursday for Christmas break. Not a lot has been going on, just hanging out with friends and chilling at home. Anyway, I went into the ER at Covenant for a second time today to shadow another doctor. I realized that if I want a job with a high burnout rate that I should become a doctor, and secondly I will never complain of the wait in the ER, because every single one of those doctors is overworked and underpaid. Nothing too exciting came in today, there was one lady in the Intensive Care Unit who's life the doctors tried to save but she was a DNR (do not resuscitate). She was old though, so it's probably better that she was. Duane, one of the residents I was with said she wouldn't make it much longer.

The only other cool thing was two car accidents, one with an 82 and 84 year old brother/sister couple. It was interesting to see how quickly everything moves in the ER and how there's a pretty standard procedure to everything. So both of them were having heart issues, probably from the car accident, and they called the cardiologist down. There was another car accident as well, except this time with a 16 year old kid. They used the helicoptor to fly him in, but there wasn't anything severly wrong with him.

So besides the cool car accidents, there was an 84 year old who got up to answer the phone and hit her head on the endtable and sliced her head open pretty bad, and you could actually see her skull it was so deep. So Duane stitched that up, and then there was a baby who overdosed on cough medicine, and when I say overdosed I mean drank the whole damn bottle, so they gave him some charcoal and just made him throw up. Traci and I did most of the rounds, but overall it wasn't a bad day.

So anyway, tonight I thought we were going to Frankenmuth, I don't know what the hells up with that, but whatever. Anyway, I think I'm gonna call it a night and just go rent a movie or something... or go to the casino... maybe something random...
