Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species summit opens.
Just prior to the opening, a committee voted that a limited sale of stockpiled ivory from southern Africa to Japan could go ahead ..... Conservationists believe any extension in legal exports will fuel the already substantial illegal trade.
*sigh* Who needs elephants anyway? Totally overrated.

Japan gets all sulky and threatens to leave because the International Whaling Commission didn't go their way on commercial whaling. Oh, boo hoo.

US seeks new greenhouse gas goals. Ha. Yes, as few as possible, I bet.

Brown plans new terror laws.
The chancellor also wants to revive proposals to increase the time terror suspects can be held without charge from 28 to 90 days.
Oh, goodie. I felt there was far too much freedom going about. Silly rights.
