I almost thought I wasn't going to make count today. The scene I was working on was not flowing well at all. Defensive, sulky teenagers are not easy to write, especially when confronted with bitchy fellow teenagers and pigheaded adults. But I got through the scene, and the end I'm really happy with. I think I've managed the friendly teasing each other thing going good with Sherae's core group of friends. Good friends and a dragon, what more could a girl want?
Sherae's dragon, Kimuth is quickly becoming my favorite character. He's curious and cheerful and optimistic, but also a bit clumsy right now (give him a break, he's only a day old ;) ) and quick to defend his rider against people who upset her. I foresee this getting the both of them into loads of trouble here on out.
I kinda-sorta-not-really cheated on word count today by taking a break from plot after finishing my latest scene and instead worked on one of the essays that will accompany this fic when it gets posted, this one about exactly why Kimuth Impresses Sherae and at least partially why it hadn't happened before. That flowed remarkably well. I'll probably finish it tomorrow before launching into the next scene.
