I went out to the desert with my dad to visit his friend. It was nice, really hot though. I woke up at 5:30 this morning and rode my bike 17 miles to the mountain, then rode up the mountain 3000 feet, and rode a tram up another 6000, then hiked up another 1000 and read Harry Potter. The view was breathtaking. The Jeffrey Pines smelled of vanilla and butterscotch. The altitude made the desert cities seem like giant wallpaper spread across the Coachella Valley. From that height nothing down in civilization had a shadow. When I went back down, it was really hot and very uncomfortable. The night before, my dad, his friend, and his friend, all went out to dinner at a place called Haleiwa Joes. It was pretty good but at one point, our waitress, who happened to have graduated from Costa in 01 sat down next to me and talked and touched me in front of my dad, it was embarrassing. On the drive home tonight, they shut the 60 down and it was ridiculously gridlocked. My dad and I talked a lot about school and work and life in general. We disagree on a lot but its good to be reassured that we can still share our ideas nonetheless. I just made an awesome CD for my friend because I feel like being productive.
