I'm not dead

I know I officially get the award for worst updating on LJ. A full month without an update but in my defense, I really haven't done much. Here let me summarize the past month.

1) Went to Mexico. We stayed in Puerto Vallarta. It was very beautiful and I got to go in the Pacific for the first time in my life. Of course it was freezing and I hate salt water, so I only got my feet wet. It was good to just relax and get sun burned. They did lose my parents luggage so it made them difficult to put up with but it was still good. I got to eat quesadillas in Mexico. In fact the resort had this little woman named Maria that her entire job was to make them. I just wanted to pack her up and bring her home. Maria, if you ever need a green card, I'll help you.

2) Came home from Mexico and immediately went to the MSTA conference in Lansing. It was good to see people, including a few Waverly teachers. I wish I wasn't so exhausted for it but it was good to see and hang out with everyone in Lansing.

3) The weekend after MSTA/Mexico I went to Chicago. Ryan planned a wonderful weekend for him and Amy's one year anniversary with an entire weekend of binge drinking. His former ROTC buddies came in for it too so of the 6 people standing up in the wedding we had 4 of them there. My mom asked where we all went and as I was reading it off she said "So pretty much anywhere with alcohol?" Who cares about what we did when I got to see AMY!!

4) After Chicago, I developed the worst cold in history. You name the symptom, I had it: Throwing up, fever, weakness, congestion, etc. I felt ok enough to babysit Caden on St. Patrick's day but about 2 am I awoke with the worst pain in my ears. It felt like non-stop lighting bolts going through my ears to my brain. I wake up my parents and say I need to the go to the emergency room. My mom response with "Go take tylenol and go back to bed." Well the next morning, I go to the ER and turns out my ear drum has popped causing the horrible pain. My mom should be nominated for mother of the year.

5) Saturday we had family birthday dinner. We invited my cousin and his wife who gave me a mixed CD of some very unique music. There is only 2 groups I've heard of on it: Kelly Clarkston and Gavin Degraw but there is a punk rock cover of "I want it that way" originally by the backstreet boys. I nearly died of laughter listening to it. The dinner was good. At the last minute, Lisa decided to join us instead of hosting another sex toys party. She talked the entire time about teaching then said to me "Meredith, what are you going to do if there are no science jobs this summer?" Thanks for bringing up that though at my birthday dinner, Lisa. She also referred to Caden as "it." Pretty much Lisa secured my spot as favorite Aunt.

6) My actual birthday was very nice yesterday. I subbed at WHS and was the "media specialist." Pretty much I got paid nearly $12 an hour to sit on my butt and read. I did have the proctor the MEAP test in the morning and got a paper cut. When I complained about it at swim lessons (since it opened up and the chlorine wasn't very nice to it), a junior told me "Oh you deserved it since you GAVE the meap test." Ouch, I guess I won't complain about a paper cut ever again.

Alright, maybe a lot has happened in the past month. Well now I get to start the countdown until Europe. Only 23 days!!!!
