Take that and stick it up your ass, Mr. Bush! Yesterday, House leaders dropped the Arctic drilling bill from the House agenda, although the issue could return if and when the Senate and the house negotiate the budget. But this is a huge win for environmentalists and nature lovers alike. Bush wanted to run a pipeline through a fragile arctic wildlife refuge in Alaska to open the region to oil drilling. Umm, okay, your plan to raise the pipline above the ground so that the various species that inhabit this refuge could roam freely underneath it so as not to "disrupt the environment" was shotty to begin with....these animals aren't gonna stay in the region with some foreign object and human interaction abound. The natural habitat will undoubtedly change forever. HOW did he think this was a good idea? While we're at it, why don't we also bulldoze the hot springs in Yellowstone to make way for a bigger, faster interestate? And how about we blast the Rocky Mountains so shave off travel time? Bush also wanted to push through plans to allow states to authorize oil and gas drilling off the Arctic and Pacific coasts. This was also dropped from the budget plans. Why don't we just destroy every little last piece of clean, safe nature that is keeping this planet alive? I wish we could have a president again who is environmentally aware and active...I realize Clinton had his faults not signing the Kyoto Protocol and whatnot, but at least he tried to reduce emissions worldwide instead of doing everything in his power to increase them in the name of "prosperity."
Hmm, maybe Bush could refocus the funds he's wasted on the war in Iraq into finding alternative and renewable energy sources instead of further degrading this country? Maybe he'd find it easier to have the scientists and other brainpower to do so had he not shipped jobs overseas?
I hate to turn this into a Bush bashing session but honestly, just because the man responded to 9/11 with a vengeance doesn't mean he's done much else right. To be honest, while I realize an event like 9/11 will test any leader and Bush did what he could and did it well at first, he was too eager and fucked up later on. And truthfully, this country was in chaos after 9/11. Any ounce of effort on anyone's part would've seemed like we were seeking vindication and rebuilding of our great democracy. But in all actuality, a monkey could've done it.
Right...I've gotta get back to work, I'm wasting the company's time on President Bush. And he's not worth it.
