Spent an extended weekend in Chi-town with my girls...drove in Thursday afternoon and picked up Heather at O'Hare, got stuck in 5:00 rush (which, for some reason, I didn't even think about *headdesk*) and finally got settled around 7ish. Got some dinner, possibly got hit on by the door guys at the restaurant...we were standing outside trying to figure out what to do, I said I didn't care, I'd go to a stripclub (as a joke) but then these guys started chiming in about going with us and wanting us to take pictures and such...creepy kinda. So we went home, got some ice cream and watched 10 Things I Hate About You. Friday was spent touring the city - Grant Park and Buckingham Fountain, Millenium Park and "The Bean," shopping on Michigan Ave., ending in a 90-minute boat tour along the Chicago River and on the lake.......Chicago at night is BREATHTAKING. However, it was a wee bit chilly in the city at night, not to mention out on the really choppy lake. Fall's a comin'. We got up Saturday morning all sore and shit, drove to Milwaukee, got in line at 2:00 for the John Mayer Trio, waited in said line until about 5:30 until we were rudely told that there isn't and never was a line, that it was a free for all to the stage even though most of us in there had been waiting for several hours only to have a bunch of punks line up around the bar in front of us. I can't describe to ya'll how amazing this trio was. I think we all agreed that it was, hands down, the best show we'd ever seen. Drove back to Chicago around midnight, waited in one lane traffic on the Eisenhower for about a half hour (where we saw a dude seizing/freaking out about the traffic, eight college-aged individuals crammed into a Geo Prizm, another man picking his nose and eating his boogers, and yet another man pull out a pocket-sized trumpet to practice while driving.) Went to bed a bit before 3:00 am. Woke up to find that, sadly, it was Sunday already. Time for Heather to go home to Ohio *tear* We dropped her off at the airport, then headed home....stopping off, of course, at the outlet mall just outside of Chicago. We made our way to the Puma outlet to find 40% off all apparel, I found a pair of $70 Anne Klein heels for $15, and some new sneakers at the Adidas outlet for $30. So it's a good thing I refrained from buying anything at Tiffany & Co. and the Apple store otherwise I wouldn't have been able to afford these great deals!
Umm, I'm ass-tired, I think I might've sprained my ankle or pulled a muscle in my calf, and I have to get up too early tomorrow. Althought it's for a good cause...I have a 2nd interview with the Iowa City/Coralville Convention and Visitors Bureau *fingers crossed*....apparently I'm meeting the whole staff so I'm a tad on the nervous side. I wish I felt more prepared. I need a drink.......
I'm out like seeing small children that are overweight....ya know, the ones that you can TELL are overweight and will be forevermore...it ain't just pudge or baby fat that they'll grow out of eventually...they're legitimately overweight and I feel sorry for them, as does Heather.
P.S. My dad's gonna get an elliptical machine, possibly even this week! The dude at the store up in Cedar Rapids wanted to sell it to him on the spot and offered to take off $300 and throw in a free mat. I'm gonna get buff, bitches!
