Did people here know there was a portal from the school to Rio de Janeiro?  Because apparently there is.  And this morning, that portal had apparently decided to reverse itself to spit an annoyed and doused-in-rum Kate Bishop back onto Fandom ( Read more... )

Billy had seen Kate in class today, but he hadn't said anything to her, because what if she wasn't the same Kate and didn't know him or didn't want to be rabidly hugged by him in front of all their other classmates? So, he waited until classes were over and found her room, nervously knocking on the door.

There would never be a Kate that knew Billy that wouldn't want to be rabidly hugged by him.

Which was why there was a Kate moving to hug a Billy before there were any other words.

There might not have been words, but there was a possibly embarrassing squealing noise. "Hi! You're here!" Yes Billy, because she hadn't known that before you said it.

He was Billy, and he was...showered and not hiding out or anything so that lesson in timelines given by Alec was coming to a very quick fruition.

"Your observation skills have gotten fantastic," Kate teased. Embarrassing squealing noise? What embarrassing squealing noise. She hadn't noticed anything. "I can't believe you're here too! When did you come?"

"Uh, well, I've kind of been here for a while?" Billy said uncertainly. "This place is a little strange and... did you know I'd be here? Because I didn't know you'd be here. Not that I'm not happy to see you, of course."

"I really didn't expect you here," she said, twisting her mouth. "So - it's a 'this place is a little strange' thing, then? Alec said something about timelines and people from different places?"

It all sounded right up Billy's alley.

It was totally up Billy's alley, thank you very much. "Oh good, you've already had some of the talk," he said, looking relieved. "Timelines here are weird. There's a Tony Stark who's a teenager and mutants from tons of different versions of our world. And I'm assuming you're not exactly my Kate and I'm not exactly your Billy."

"There's a teenage Tony Stark?" Pay no attention to Kate's air of speculation there. What? Some things a girl wonders about.

"Since Teddy texted me earlier that he was hanging out with you today, I'm guessing not," she said. Which meant that this Billy was probably from sometime before? Did warning people about things to come cross the line into badness? This was going to be a question, wasn't it. "And that's almost the weirdest thing I've ever thought about."

"Yes, and he's awesome," Billy said with absolutely no bias at all. "It's really weird at first, but you'll get used to it over time. We just have to decide whether or not to tell people at home and weird them out too."

"What are your - us doing at home while you're here?" Kate asked. Your us? Shut up, it made sense. And she was curious.

"Going to school, trying not to get into trouble for secretly Avengering." That was totally a word, shhh. "What's your us doing?"

"...pretty much the same thing." Sort of.

Which reminded Kate of the question she'd pondered earlier. "Is the -" the air quotes were loving not mocking really "- 'Avengering' secret here?"

"Not exactly?" Billy said, leaning against the doorway as he tried to find the right words. "There are a lot of people here with major skills, so most people don't really hide what they can do, because they can't throw stones, you know? I mean, some people might keep things secret, but we don't have to, unless you want to."

[Oooh sleep, night!]
