So we had our first party ever and hot damn was it a good one! Thanx to everyone who came and made the night what it was. We still have a ton of booze left so stay tuned for future party invitations haha. For those of you unable to attend, fear not. Smaller gatherings will be set up and other opportunities will present themselves throughout the year. The mess was good, the pictures even better. Best part, didn't get busted and everyone had a nice time catching up with friends. So, to recap for those who couldn't go: Tons of beer-some split, most drank; chips and dip-some crushed in the rug, most eaten and enjoyed; Katie Rys: professional photographer-lots of buddy shots complete with quality stories; I now know how to play guitar thanx to a lovely Ward student named Jason-you need to come back for lesson #2! If I'm leaving anything out I apologize, its been one tornado of a weekend and we're not even done!
I'm still not in school mode yet. I've started on some projects and have nearly all of the supplies I need for future works. I still have to tweak my schedule and apply for a job on campus but other then that the week has been rather slow. I'm taing for a foundations sculpture class and it looks like the kids are gonna be interesting. My first challenge will be getting them to open up and come to me for help. Sorry guys, I'm not checking in on you-you need something come and ask. Wow that sounded harsh.. Anyways I've got my sculpture meeting and the big clay club meeting this week so that should get the creative ball rolling so to speak. Once I get my independent space in ceramics I'll be ready to get dirty-literally.
Erica and I have gone to the gym three times this week and it feels really good. I'm actually doing something and wanting to work out. Its a good feeling and I'm happy to have a gym buddy to motivate me. Jeremy and Ben tell me that once I begin seeing results I'll be hooked and I'm kind of hoping that happens. I need to do something to keep fit. I've cut my food intake in half and now its just the workout stuff I need to concern myself with. I want to get to the point where I go back to work and people notice I've been slimming down. That is the goal currently. No one noticed I lost any weight over the summer because they all saw me everyday. We'll see how it goes. I'm trying and right now thats all that matters to me.
Katie and I checked out the new technology building the other day and holy shit is it ever gorgeous! We were so proud of the school and happy to see our tuition dollars at work. No, improvements weren't made to either of our schools but it was still nice to see the university stepping in the right direction. Maybe its because we're tour guides and we understand what an impact this building will have on our school, maybe its the fact that the science kids deserve up to date labs and classrooms, maybe its just the fact that its still so new and pretty; I don't know, but it made us feel really good about going here, about being here, about being around to see all of the changes made year after year. I told Katie I didn't mind paying 35 thou to go here, shit, I'd pay 45 thou if this is the kind of shit their gonna keep doing (don't tell them I said that though). I know it'll take awhile for them to get to the other schools and Katie and I will never get to see it but just knowing our campus is trying to update and stay current was enough to make our entire day brighter. While most tour guides at other colleges talk about their universities' history, we get to talk about the universitie's future, and I'm sorry but that totally rocks my world.
