Firstly -- we have snow! \o/ We got about 5 inches last night. When I left for work this morning the road wasn't plowed yet. Now I can handle my neighborhood not being plowed (although it had been earlier and was just snowy again) -- but the first real road I hit is a state road and hadn't been touched. It made me a little cranky because just before the last 2 storms we were supposed to get there were a bunch of plows on the road well before it even started to snow. Oh yeah -- they were on overtime then. *headdesk* Anyway -- the first 4 miles of my ride SUCKED: snow covered roads with a little ice underneath. Lovely. Then I turned onto another road and it was plowed! \o/ It wasn't salted, however, so the ice was now bare. O.O That was eight miles -- with the first three being up the side of a small mountain. Coming down the other side was fun as well but my new car handled the conditions very well.
I didn't feel well this morning but I hit the treadmill and then headed to work... Admittedly not the smartest decision I've ever made but I did get a couple of things done that really needed to get done. I met with my boss, put in some paperwork for wage increases for a couple of techs who recently got their certifications, and then finished up that performance appraisal and turned it in for approval. I went to a meeting, had a brief meeting with my staff (in both locations), and then came home. By that time my head was pounding so badly that I couldn't even turn it. UGH. My ears are plugged, the right side of my face is tingly, my sinuses are killing me, and I have an upset stomach to top it all off. I think I may stay home tomorrow.
Looks like we probably won't be heading to my parents' house this weekend. I don't want to risk taking anything to them. EL is still coughing pretty good and now this? Yeah -- home with my feet up sounds wonderful.
And now an excerpt from yesterday's book (well, two actually). These are both within the same paragraph... and, no I didn't keep reading. I was actually about half-way through when this happened:
* Miranda turned Peter’s face towards hers and she kissed his lips ever so tenderly. This sent an intense impulse of desire through Peter’s neurological arteries of passion.
* As the winds of the Ligurian and Tyrrhenian seas were darting in and out of each other and molding together above the ancient islands of the Greek Gods, so did the gentle embrace of these two lovers colliding in harmony with each other. Yes, that last sentence was typed correctly. Does it make sense to you? ;)
* Miranda inhaled Peter’s soul and made passionate love to the melody of this land of enchantment, a melody not heard with the ears but only with the heart. And how does one make love to a melody anyway? Inquiring minds want to know. The renewal of life itself was a much greater celebration than any mere mortal could orchestrate. This conquest of the spirit and the joining of two powerful attractions of nature would cause an explosion of reproduction. Um, ouch? For this day an heir to King Falconi would be conceived to bring joy to this union of man and woman. *snorfle*
So what did you think? LOL
Writing a little tonight and hopefully a LOT tomorrow. :) That puts me at
toward my word goal for 2013., which is 4,937 words ahead of my daily target for the month. \o/
