state of things...

so grocery shopping for 8 people is never easy - and only made more entertaining by the fact that the majority of my travellers checks this round are 20s. i sign my name 4000 times when we get groceries and its a general pain in the butt. last night i heard something that magnified my bitterness towards some of the people of CT.

my checker at the grocery store made a small mistake with my travellers checks and had to check with his maanger to make sure he corrected for it. it took a few extra minutes but the line was growing behind me at the check out. one lady even had the balls to say "so should we give up and go to a new line or what?" my sweet checker, neil, soother her and continued to help me. after finishing my transaction and putting my change away i hear the woman behind me in line say to neil, "why don't people on food stamps have to go to their own special line to check out?" referring quit obviously to me. sweet sweet neil looked at the woman and said, "they were travellers checks ma'am" and went along his way.

this is the problem in our society. people like this woman create a stigma for people who need food stamps and i know that its that stigma that prevents indivduals from receiving the assistance that they are elegible for and should receive because they are ashamed. i really wanted to give this woman an earful but managed to hold back.

some people....

team is good. work is good. life is good. though i didn't run into katie holmes while working unlike some people i know. cool story though - hope everyone is good.
