National Survivors of Suicide Day

Today is National Survivors of Suicide Day, in recognition of the particular pain and stigma of having a loved one kill themselves. It is also the 15th anniversary of my mom's suicide. I didn't attend any events -- seemed too much like group therapy which freaks me out. I didn't feel like posting anything about suicide awareness/prevention on

Sorry. My first friend - my neighbor and birthday twin from *birth* - with whom I had kept in marginal contact all these many years killed himself nearly 2 years ago (11-29). His mother was a very close friend of my mom's for nearly 40 years.

He blogged until close to the end. He was a beautiful artist.
