Okay, I finally have time to post the first journal I've wanted to post for weeks.  Bethany threw up at school today, and as I was at the "slow spa" I happily volunteered to meander my way through the bus system to her school.  Hence, I have an afternoon off.  So get ready, this is probably one of the cutest stories you'll ever read.
Some weeks ago, spring was literally blowing itself into the great state of Hawaii.  Seriously I'm talking 30-40mph gusts.  As Bethany and I trudged up our hill after school one blustery day, we both noticed at the same time a baby bird right by the side of the road.  Immediately I knew it had been blown out of its nest.  We searched in vain for said nest, nowhere to be seen.  The poor little thing was in shock.  We approached it and it didn't even move.  My avid animal loving daughter gently picked it up and carried it home.  At first I felt at a total loss.  There was no way we could keep this bird.  But then, HAZA!  I remembered the humane society was right down the street!  I quickly restored hope to myself and my daughter while we waited on Drew to get home with the car.  For the better part of two hours, my daughter coddled this little bird and didn't even so much as accidentally remove a feather.  As we proceeded to the humane society, the baby finally came out of shock and began chirping anxiously.  And pooped on Bethany's hand.   I was so proud of her for just holding the bird still and waiting til we arrived whereupon she requested to wash her hands.  They gladly obliged and called the "bird lady."  Aaaah.  All was well with the world that day :-)
