13 days left until we leave.
Just to let everyone know, since this is my last night of work ((woohoo! 11 more hours!)), I probably won't be posting as much as I have been over the next month. On Saturday and Sunday we have a wedding to go to, and after that we will be packing, buying some last minute things, and visiting family around the province. Then, once we get to our new home in China, it make take awhile to get the internet up and running. I'm sure I won't miss too many posts, but if I'm not around for a few days, or if I don't respond to your comments for a bit, don't worry about me. As for China, here's a bit more info about where I'm going:
We are moving to the Henan Province of China, it is just under one quarter of the size of Saskatchewan (or Texas if your from the states), and has a population of over 96 million !! While it is the most highly populated province in China, it has only the 6th highest population density. The city in which we will be living is called Xinxiang. To say that correctly you need to pronounce "X" like "sh". There we will be teaching English in the "Xinxiang Teachers Collage" to students who have been taking English for about 6 years, and who have a vocabulary of about 3000 words. Our main goal will be to help them practise speaking English. Up until now, they have been taught by copying notes off of a blackboard, and have little practise/ confidence in actually speaking the language. The housing that they have arranged for us is located about a half an hour from campus, and they supply us with a bicycle, fridge, stove, washer, fan, bed, A/C, connections for internet and telephone, and someother stuff that I can't remember right now. In addition, we get our airfair to China paid for, a return trip once we complete our yearly contract, a yearly travel bonus, and payment throughout both the summer and winter holidays.
