Hee! (Dude, you have my journal on your reading list? That's so cool!)

Eureka's a tv show airing on the Sci Fi Channel. Have you heard of fanfiction? (In case not, fanfiction, or fanfic, is stories written in a world constructed by someone else, for example, people write Star Wars stories, and they're fanfiction.)

A ficathon is an organized fiction exchange. Basically, a bunch of people make requests for fiction they would like written for them, and the ficathon organizer matches all the requests with different writers. Everyone involved writes one story based on the prompt assigned to them, and in exchange, everyone receives one story.

A crossover request would be someone who wants a story, say, set in the context of the Eureka TV show, but with the Star Wars characters (to go with the previous example) interacting within the setting of Eureka. A gen ficathon would be a ficathon with stories focusing on the characters' interactions in a general, or non-romantic way.

So a gen Eureka ficathon would be a fanfiction exchange of stories within the setting of Eureka. You can usually get quite a good batch of stories written out of a ficathon (okay, sometimes you get awful ones too, but you hope for more good ones than bad ones).

I hope that was a good explanation!
